After researching the books for HOD, I am quite certain I can save a bit by buying most of what I need used and such. So that puts HOD back in the running for next year. It is really between that and Biblioplan. They will both cost about the same in the long run, the BP being slightly cheaper.
I LOVE the layout of HOD, the way the assignments are done, everything. But I love the information in the BP Companion. Now, I am thinking perhaps I could use just the Companion and match up the chapters with the lessons in HOD.
But, I would like your opinions on using just one or the other, as well.
    Thanks. :D

Has no one here used either? Particularly in the mid-upper elementary grades?

I haven't used past Preparing with my oldest. After Preparing we moved to SOTW series and this past year used Sonlight. We are not going to do Sonlight again but go back and use SOTW4. I noticed the newest HOD uses it in their newest guide. We may just use it next year along with Preparing with my younger two. I have a love/hate thing going on with HOD. Loved Little Hands, hated Little Hearts and loved Beyond and Bigger and okay with Preparing. I needed the change.
