Does anyone have "recipes" for home made air freshners? I remember (years ago) making some kind of an air freshner (thingy) made with cloves. When we made them, they were supposed to be used in dresser drawers. I'd like to teach the boys how to make air freshners with the same sort of idea in mind but without all the harsh chemicals you get at stores (and not half as expensive as what's on the shelf).
Do you have a simmering potpourri pot? Instead of using oils that have chemicals, you can add a small amount of water, rose petals, cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg, crushed lavender, or whatever you have. This really makes the house smell nice. You can also steep spices, herbs, or flowers in warm water. Strain the water and put it in a spray bottle. Then mist the air when you need it. Store it in the fridge. The potpourri pot is better because it gives a strong aroma. The spray bottle doesn't have all the chemicals so it doesn't last as long, but it still works. Patty
yea, Brenda I remember my girls making something like that I will have to look to see if I have the direction or not. I know what you are talking about they were cool. That would be fun to make again.

In girls scouts (way back when) we took oranges and stuck cloves in them and put a ribbon on it for hanging in the closet. But also you can take a small pot and simmer water with clove, cinamon, orange slices.
