My dd is wanting to make bread again. We did bread once and tried rolls once. I never have much luck with yeast but each turned out ok. I ended up doing most of the work and I don't really have that much time.

Do any of you use a bread machine? If so, do they really work and which one is the best?

ME!!! ME!!! ME!!! I KNOW!!! I KNOW!!! (See me jumping up and down, waving my arms) Do a search on here for Amish Country White Bread. It is THE EASIEST recipe EVER!!! It ALWAYS comes out consistently excellent. (If you can't find it, let me know and I'll find it for you!) I don't use a bread machine; I've given up trying to find a recipe that turns out well for me consistently. One time it will be great, and another time it flops.

I was going to say ask Jackie for her recipe but she beat me to it. Amish Country White is the best ever! We sometimes make it with part or all whole wheat flour and it turns out great but white is my favorite. I use King Arthur Bread flour for mine. Shoot! Now I am hungry!

I've had this bread machine FOREVER. Love it. Lots of settings, works great, every loaf I've ever made in it turns out great (except that time I lost count while putting int he flour...but that's user error LOL)

Thanks guys. I found the Amish recipe and we might give that a try.

Thanks JosieB. That is the exact machine dd found that we are thinking about buying. Do you have to use a mix or do you use any bread recipe? Could we use the Amish White bread recipe in the bread machine?

I would guess no, because the rising is different. You let it rise for a half-hour, punch it down, and then let it rise/punch for fifteen minutes, four times. Then you shape it and let it rise another half-hour, for a total of 2 hours rising time. I suppose you could let it rise the entire time at once, but I won't guarantee how it would effect the final product (if at all).
