I did what someone refered to as "cow patties" for gifts one year. They are the chocolate no-bakes and they hold up well.
I make cookies every year - tradition - hubby takes a big tray of cookies into work on the last day before the holiday break (well, Christmas Day). It always has: chocolate chip pb kiss cookies 7 layer bars ultimate snickerdoodles All homemade. i LOVE to bake. I just follow the choc chip recipe for whatever bag of chips is cheapest that week I make them! The PB kiss cookies are on the hersheys' website. They are the PB cookies with the Hershey's kiss in the middle. the 7 layer bars and snickerdoodles are my recipes from regular recipes that I've changed for how we like them best. The snickerdoodle recipe is on my blog (not really allowed to post www's yet but it's www dot in-the-kitchen-with-krista dot blogspot dot com ). I'm going to put 7 layer bars up tomorrow. This year we're adding two new ones, a sugar cookie recipe from Parents magazine and a Nonimo (sp?) bar (hubby's favorite, MIL's recipe, going to give it a shot just for him).
My kids like to take the store bought rolls of chocolate chip cookie dough and the pans that make the tiny muffins. We put a small ball of cookie dough in the muffin pan holes and bake them. As soon as we take them from the oven they gently push a small size peanut butter cup down into the cookie center. Let them cool a few minutes and transfer them to a wire cooling rack. They are so good but rich. The kids love to give these to friends because so far everyone loves them. Beth
Melissa, Maybe we'll have to start the "I MEANT to make you cookies" Club! We could have cards that say, Merry Christmas! I meant to make you cookies, but it's the thought that counts! Love from the "I Meant to Make You Cookies Club ???
Someone gave us a "cow patty" one year. Very cute gift! She put them in square boxes with the green grass like from Easter. They were no-bake fudge swirled into a big patty. Not for the "stuffy" friend though! My SIL would have turned her nose up even though she loves chocolate.
How cute is that! I have had cow patty no bake cookies before but never thought of packaging them like that. Beth
Beth, I like your recipe we are going to try that, my dh always takes a nice plate of cookies for his co-workers and that sound so good.
No bake cookies are the best. I have never called them cow patties. This year I will have to let my family know that I am making cow patties.
One thing I should have told you. When you make these you need to unwrap all the little peanut butter cups while the cookies are baking. It takes a while to get them all unwrapped. I make 24 at a time so it keeps me hopping to keep up. I make a bunch of these because they are so easy. I wish you could buy the peanut butter cups already unwrapped! I really think you will like these a lot.
AmyU, I had never heard them called that until someone on here called them that when the conversation ran on cookies awhile back. I'm pretty sure they are the same type of cookie. It is funny because I originally made them in 5th grade. The teacher brought the ingredients to school and we made them in "math" class. They ended up being a cookie that we used for bake sales, class parties, etc. There is a peanut butter version of them also. I'm getting hungry just thinking about them!
