Hi! Hubby, son11, September08 baby and I will be moving back to the US in October/November. I will be starting hs'ing in about a week once my Singapore Math books arrive in the mail. We will do math for now with some online science and grammar and then get more books once the move and the adjustment period with the baby is over. (Big plans, anyways...) I taught my son how to read and write when he was 5. No books, just paper. But he wanted to learn really badly so that worked great for us. Anyway, hi! Love this forum!
Hubby is in the States right now, I am waiting for him to email me the details of closing on a piece of land today. And he is late emailing/Skype'ing. Aaaaaghhh!!!
Thank goodness for modern technology! 23 yrs ago I was prego with our first dd and stationed in Germany. My dh got out of the Army over there but had to go stateside for the paperwork and he ended up staying there for several months ahead of me. Does anyone remember a payphone?!LOL! That was how I had to contact him! Welcome to the spot. There is a wide variety of us here! I have 4 kiddos, one at home (almost 13) and two dgds that I keep most of the week who are 15 mo and almost 2 1/2.
Hi and welcome. I hope the move goes well and you are settled in your new home soon. Jennifer, I remember pay phones very well. I have a phone booth in my yard. I used to work for the phone company and they were giving a couple away when they went to the smaller kind. Everyone asks if it has a real phone in it. No, just some rakes.
Beth, that is funny! I broke down and bought a Virgin prepaid phone because it is so hard to find a pay phone. What good is a mechanic dh if you can't call him if your car is broken down?!
Welcome! My high school/college best friend Hope lives in Oslo, Norway. She works for a non-profit agency there. She has been living there for about 15 years. I see her about every two-three years when she flies to San Antonio to see her family and visit with us. Where in Norway are you currently living?
Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! I currently live on the westcoast of Norway, near Stavanger, where I was born and raised. We are moving to Alamogordo, NM (close to El Paso, TX) where we honeymooned 7 years ago this September. *sigh* In a one-person tent. Yes, Jennifer, I am soooo happy we have Skype so I get to talk to him and see him on the video for free.
Welcome! You are going to have a climate shock! Best wishes for your move, new baby, and new homeschool journey!
Thanks! Yes, it will be a climate shock, but New Mexico is not at all as bad as for instance Arizona or even Louisiana when it comes to heat. I am more nervous about dealing with a new baby and starting homeschooling at the same time.
Well welcome to the spot and to the great state of Texas. It's hot down here right now no rain in sight for along time. All my hard work of planting and everything dryed up. Jennifer and Beth, I am glad I am younger then you all and don't remember those paid phones.
Well, the monsoon season is due to start soon in NM, so hopefully by the time we arrive in October it will still be all nice and green in the desert.
HEY, they are still in use around here. I have to use one from time to time, If my cell phone is on the fritz.
