HSLDA put out an alert that the Michigan State Board of Education is planning to recommend to Michigan legislature that homeschoolers in MI need lots more regulation. HSLDA sighted that the info they presented was inaccurate and HSLDA would be providing them with accurate information.

My DH and I were talking about this at dinner tonight and our ds got a little upset that "they are trying to take our rights away"! Hopefully it won't make it to our legislature.

I got that alert too. I pray that God intervenes on this. They have obviously forgotten about what a nightmare it was several years ago when the tied up the courts with hs issues. If they want to change anything they can change the way they allow the Michigan Athletic Association dictate who can play for them (exclude homeschoolers). Our local school distric allows homeschoolers to play sports but the athletic associations say no and because the school contracts them it means my kids can't play. It drives me crazy. I guess it has been tied up in the courts for several years now and will probably continue to be.

I'll be praying from where I am. I am convinced that this is only the beginning...soon, I think all states are going to take on homeschooling and try to make it illegal.
