Wondering if anyone here homeschools from OK. I think we are moving to Lawton next spring. I am currently in MO.
I think OK requires 180 days, but do they have a requirement on hours? What IS a day? I tried reading the HSLDA page, but still don't get it :p

I am not in OK, but after reading the HSLDA page I would take it to mean that a child within the compulsory age must attend school (homeschool) for 180 days. A 'day' in that case is whatever you define a day as. If your 'day' is 2.5 hours long then the child's day is 2.5 hours long. If you have an older child who is schooling for 4.5 hours a day then that is a day. It's a green state, so there is little regulation and based on that alone I would just get a calendar and check off 180 days.

My understanding is that OK is very hs-friendly.

I'm in OK. This is my first year, so I'm not 100% on everything, but the way that I understand it is that you are require to do 180 days, as defined by you. You don't have to register or report to anyone (although my dd's school did ask that I fill out a form to keep in her records that just stated she was being homeschooled). If there is a question about what you are doing, the burden of proof is on the state to show that you are NOT providing an education for your children rather than you having to prove that you ARE.
For my record keeping, I'm just writing down what we cover each day in a lesson plan book to show what days we've done school (I counted our field trips to the zoo and the pumpkin patch) and I've kept some of their work in a portfolio.
From what I've heard from those in other states, OK is pretty relaxed on their regulations compared to many states.

okay so it is my understanding that they do not have a required amount of hours, just 180 days. ? In MO we have to do 1000 hours, makes no differernce how many days it takes you, when you have 1000 hours you are done. It is easy to get 1000 hours btw.
I think days would be a pain, because we do many days of 6 or 8 hours, but not sure that we get in 180 days. Maybe we do, I've never counted days...

180 days is about 1/2 a year, it's not too difficult to get in 180 days.
