    Hi Everyone!
I'm not actually a homeschooling Mom because my kids do attend the Spanish public schools. But I am lucky enough to have a light school day from 9:00 to 2:00. I have decided against blingual education, because after being a teacher in bilingual schools I've found that only the students who wouldn't be able to pick up the English language at home benefit from that kind of system. So I am "in charge" of my children's English learning and really want to take it seriously. My mouth drools when reading about what home schoolers are doing in the states. I may only have a half day, but I want to make my children's English learning really fun and meaningful. There are so many materials on the Internet, but I have no word of mouth. My children are 3, 5, and 7. What I am mostly interested in is what children are interested in reading. We have already exhausted ourselves with my copies of Dr. Suess. I'm looking for some really great storybooks that real children have read over and over again. Any suggestions?

When my dd was very young, she loved reading the Amelia Bedelia books. Both my kids have enjoyed the Berenstain Bears books, the Arthur books, Winnie the Pooh books, The Magic Tree House books, and the Magic School Bus books. My ds is currently into the Goosebumps series. Captain Underpants is a popular series (especially among boys).
I'll see if I can come up with some more, these are just the ones that came to mind.

My dd really enjoyed the Series of Unfortunate Events. The A to Z Mysteries series is pretty popular. The American Girl series is quite popular with girls. There's also the Clifford the Big Red Dog books, Curious George books, and the How Do Dinosaurs....? series (How do Dinosaurs say Goodnight, How do Dinosaurs Clean Their Rooms, etc.). The Encyclopedia Brown series has always been pretty popular. My kids always liked the Little Critter series.
