"homeschooling" through district

    Wow, they have requirements for K in Virginia? I would say check the state laws web pages, the gov. pages should show you what you need to do. Here in the west we dont have to declare we are home schooling yet at that age.

    I'm in CA too and we used the county program for part of our home schooling years and then we used a charter school too. It does help a lot if money is tight. Feel free to pm-I'd be happy to answer specific questions that you might have.

    I was able to try out a bunch of curriculum that I wouldn't have spent our own money on and the charter school alos paid for art lessons and karate. It worked well for our family. We turned in work samples and met with a teacher every 20 days but there was no pressure-just encouragement and support.

    That's great!

    A couple of the charters in this part of SoCal do not pay for any of that. They have had their funds cut drastically so anything above and beyond school books has to come out of my sister's pocket.
