While shopping in today I saw Ollie's stores have Hooked on Phonics regularly 299.99 for 50.00. They also have younger workbooks for around $1-2 and a fraction game. The game looked nice but I don't remember who made it. I'll double check if someone wants to know that. I think the game was 4.99.

That's at our Ollie's, too. Ollie's has a large selection of educational materials and they're good materials, too. They even have Christian materials as well. I even think the grade range is large, with what they carry.

Oh, we've had HOP forever. Jeanne is in the middle of book one, set 2. Ollie's just has a lot of good quality educational stuff, not just junky workbooks. I saw a Scholastic middle school level reading program there for just a few dollars.

Nope- not stocking up. Still praying over next year.

We did a unit study on Egypt this year and we found King Tut mask and mummy to paint from National Geographic. The girls really enjoyed this. It helped bring Egypt to life. They always check to see if they have any thing new like this to do. I think they were only 4.99 each. We love the book section

Here is the website to check to see where the nearest one is
    http://www.olliesbargainoutlet.com/index.php

There is one in Steubenville & St Clairsville Ohio. I didn't know the zip so searching was touch. Not sure about Tennessee.

We have bought some really neat educational stuff there. Not only for our girls but also the grandkids.

Spiker, did you see the skeleton book and kit awhile back? My Jeannie was too young for it, but I think it was only like 4.99 or something. Most of their workbooks are 1.99 or less, at least here they are.

That's the other thing about Ollie's- everything is dirt cheap. They have books, computer software, scrapbooking stuff, some clothes, groceries, paint, housewares, hardware, paintings, linens. I paid .99 a roll for a cow pasture border that was regularly 5.99.

Here they don't carry fresh stuff like milk or bread. You can get cereal, mixes, toiletries, etc. One year I bought bare root peonies there for perhaps 1.99 and they're still coming up big and beautiful each year.

I missed the skeleton book/kit. I haven't tried any of the food yet. Little worried how old it is and I can do so well at the stores w/ 2x coupons that I can get fresh pretty cheap.

I wish my girls were young again so I could start over and get them the workbooks. To think of the price I paid for them when they were younger. They are 13 and 15 now so all of the workbooks are too young. Great price for anyone having younger ones.

They did have Thomas Kinkade wall border here really cheap. I waited to long and now they don't seem to get very much in borders in. I've been wondering if they are discontinuing that line of merchandise. I know they buy lots of closeouts.

I just remembered I recently separated those peonies, and was able to put 8 of them down my driveway. They are full every single year since I planted them, and it's been more than 6 years.

I never ran into any outdated food or medicine there. The expiration date is the first thing I look at. They have the big, double boxes of cereal that we need in this house!

My mom has bought lovely area rugs there very cheaply.

Oh, I have a neat story about Ollie's. One Christmas I was there and they happened to have these big Teletubbies. They were huge. I go to buy them for Jeanne, but I couldn't find the purple one.
I went to the cashier and asked where was the purple Teletubbie. She said they weren't selling that one because it represented the gay population! I was like, what??
I called the manager to complain, and he said the cashier wasn't quite right. The store they got the Teletubbies from chose not to carry the purple one, and since Ollie's takes overstocks they got what that store carried.

    Isn't that wild?

Hey, their site says, "There's an Ollie's near you!" BUT, they don't have one in Washington! What's the deal here?! :) Wish they DID, sounds like a great place!

my girls love going there. They always head for the section where they found the national geographic egyptian stuff hoping they got something new in. I wished I would have seen the skeleton/book. My youngest would have loved that. Last year we found some science kits from Brighter Child regularly 16.95 for 3.99 each. Magnets, electricity, air & water, dinosaurs & fossils, our solar system. We always top when we see one. Sometimes they get different merchandise in.
