I want to book our hotel soon but don't know which to choose.. Anyone have recommendations?? I'm a cheap person:roll: and I'm fine with the 2 star hotels. We will just be sleeping and bathing there BUT I want them to be in a good area where I don't have to worry about my vehicle and I want them to be clean. Would also like it to be easily accessible to Sea World but doesn't have to be.. Thanks for your help.
There are some hotels very close to Sea World, but they tend to be more expensive ones. The only hotel I've stayed in is the Crown Plaza Airport, that was when we flew in to find a house. I live fairly close to Sea World (8 miles or so) and there are several decent chains in my area. There is a brand new Candlewood Suites and Holiday Inn just off Loop 1604/Braun Rd. It's close to two small shopping areas with plenty of eating options. Anything in the general area should be safe. I probably wouldn't get too close to UTSA, but it's still not bad there. Sea World is not close to downtown, so keep that in mind. You willl have to pay to park if you go downtown. We usually park in the open lot across ($6-$12) from the River Center Mall parking garage. It's right down from the Alamo and across from the mall entrance to the Riverwalk (enter through the garage). Let me know if I can help with anything! When are you coming?
I know nothing of this, but when we went to Disneyland, the hotel offered free shuttles to the park....... maybe some of the hotels offer that so you don't have to pay for parking at Sea world??
I'm not sure if there are shuttles except for at the hotels really close by. You can certainly check that out! If you do drive in, you can take a picnic lunch/supper and go out to the parking lot to eat. They'll stamp yur hand for re-entry. There are some grassy medians where you can picnic. Food at Sea World is VERY expensive and there is not much food per entree. Snacks technically aren't allowed in, but we've always been able to get by with bringing a few packs of snack crackers and such. Your bags will be searched, but I've never been asked to throw food out.
As a very frequent traveler, I have a friend. I never leave home without him! Honestly, that site often reveals cheaper hotels that are far better than expensive hotels. I usually go with one of the top 10% in terms of positive reviews (the site lists by "#1 of 36", for example). Here's the list for San Antonio.
Thanks! I'll look through the links and see what I come up with. I'm hoping that by booking now I'll save some money.. We'll be going June 23rd after hubby gets off work and coming home on the 26th. Not a long time but long enough. The boys will be in Cincinatti Ohio for a missions trip and then camp for two whole weeks so we thought we would sneak off to sea world with the girls while they are gone.. The girls are really excited about going. Hubby says he would rather get a cheap hotel and use the money we save for for shopping so I'm on a quest to find a "decent" hotel in a somewhat safe area..
Looking on hotwire.com and found a hotel in the hill country area for $70. They don't tell the name until you purchase but it has a 95% customer rating. It's also a 3* and looks to be near sea world. Does this seem like a good area?
Usually Hill Country is north of SA, but there is a hotel in the LaCantera (mall/shopping) that has Hill Country in the title. It would be close enough to Sea World if that is the one, but it would be further away than the area I talked about earlier. I'll look up some and see what I find a bit closer.
