We did it. We have finally made the decision to move. Everyone is so very excited. We have researched the area we are going to, North Idaho. Everything is fitting perfectly, I can see God's hand in this. Now we are working on selling our house. I spoke with a realestate agent friend of mine and she advised that we try to sell it ourselves for now we stand to make more money that way. So, my game plan is to call all the buyer agents I can find and let them know about our house. Then I will put ads in the papers, plus lots of word of mouth. Anyone have any other advice?
Try to stay on top of keeping the house neat. Than when someone wants to see your place, and they say within the hour they will be there, you will be ready. It takes much effort, but all you need is one buyer!
might want to post it on craigslist too. Also, try keep something in the freezer to bake in oven to make house smell good when they come and look. We did that to our house in Wisconsin and it went fast. Candles burning if you can. Just make it feel homey, thats what most normal people like. Good Luck
I am packing up school books and non-essential stuff so it isn't cluttered. I love the candles and baking ideas. Thanks.
I wish we were moving to Idaho! That is where my dh and I lived after we got married and we loved it! We keep thinking about going back, but right now is not the time for us to move. *sigh* Good luck with selling your house!
I confess that I have never been to Idaho but from the pics I seen from family who visit their family, it is gorgeous!
Definitely list it on Craigslist and there are several "for sale by owner" type websites. Most have a fee but it varies. I know as military folks, we always checked those websites (not that you have military folks looking out that way)...but I'm sure others check them too. Don't forget to send us your new address...DD9 will have to keep tabs on the adventure! Rhonda
Wow, I got a shocker today. On Mon. I called a couple of buyers agents. Well, I have been working nights so I check the voicemail in the morning. This morning I checked and there is a message from the realtor that I called on monday. She wanted to show the house at 9 THIS MORNING. YIKES!! DH had gone fishing so the girls and I tied into tidding up. We had a half hour! When the people showed up they loved the place, but it was to far out of town for them. For the next showing I have a couple of days I think. I ran into a lady at the post office who is looking for a house and she wants to come see it next. I never expected this kind of a response.
Sounds like you are off to a great start. How fast can you move if someone makes you an offer you can't refuse? Best of luck to you and your family as you get ready to make this move. Beth
The good thing is I have work in Idaho. I called and spoke with the manager of the hotel I would be transfering to and she says I could come on about anytime. The shift I work is the one she has the hardest time covering. So all is looking good.
I lived in Spokane wich is in WA right next to the northern part of Idaho and we went there some to visit family in Cour d' alane and post falls Idaho.
Craigslist is awesome. We found a buyer for our house in VA on there...unfortunately we had already hired a realtor, but the big thing is, I brought in more lookers with a craigslist ad than she did, and we had a contract on it before the sign was even put in the yard!!! there's also Kijiji.com which is like a craigslist knock-off. i haven't used it enough to judge it.
I agree about using Craig's List. We having been on that constantly looking for land for sale. We talked to the bank yesterday and it looks like we will be using our bank in Michigan, but we think that we found land and will be moving ahead. I hope that you can sell soon so you don't end up moving during the winter months.
Also post and add in the Casper paper. That paper circulates all over here and almost everyone I know reads it. Good luck on selling your house. I know it will sell and sell well for you. So many people want the out of town homes around here.
I think you'll like north Idaho. We live in western MT and have gone to NCFCA speech tournaments over there. There are a lot of nice homeschoolers there!
