I am a bit at a loss with this, its never happened to me before so I am not sure what to do. Ok on the first I placed an order with Amazon. There were a couple of used books in the order. One of my used books, was the Usborne Interlinked Encyclopedia. Well, it has not arrived yet, everything else is already here except it.

I emailed the seller 2 days ago, no response. I dont know what to do now. Should I email Amazon and get them involved with this? I really need that book to finish some of my planning and school starts very soon for us so I need time to buy a new one if this one dont show up.

How long should I wait to see if its going to be here? Its been 15 days and no book. I have never had to wait this long for an order to get here. What would you do?

I just had a problem with not getting a book I ordered off of half.com. I waited 3 weeks, no book I emailed the seller, no response, waited a few days then contacted half. They made me wait 48 hours to file a claim, to give the seller time to respond to them and myself.. no response so half refunded me the money including my shipping, which I thought I was out. Media mail can take 14 MAIL days, sometimes more, and I always figure at least 3 or 4 days for the seller to get it in the mail, so I wait 3 weeks before I start to get worried (21 days), by 4 weeks then I start to take action (28 days).

Good luck, it sucks when you don't get what you ordered.

Thanks so much. I guess I will wait a bit longer and give it another week. Usually the used stuff makes it here even before amazon ships the new stuff so having something this late is all new to me. I am still nervous though, if it dont come I will have to somehow hurry up and get another one shipped overnight or something. Its going to be cutting it really close if that book dont come.

Maybe you can get a copy at the library until yours gets there?

If the seller flakes out, I wouldn't pay overnight shipping to get a new one from Amazon. I think I would proceed with the school year without it and add it in when it gets there using free shipping.

Or, maybe you can do a free trial of Amazon Prime and they will get it to you either the next day or 2nd day. I don't remember. I signed up for a free trial of Amazon Prime at Christmas and it was very convenient since I kind of waited until the last minute to do my shopping. Just cancel it before they charge you for it.

Yeah, I would make do without it, the world isn't going to end if you have to wait a few days to use it. There is no way I would pay the price for overnight mail.

I waiting on a used marketplace book from Amazon too. I got the 2 others for amazon and then a private seller. Still waiting on the 3rd private seller.

If they ship it media mail, it can take a long time depending on where they are compared to you.

I have had horrible luck with sellers from Amazon. So, if it is not directly from Amazon I won't buy it any more. I had to wait well over month a couple of times to get the books I ordered. Then when they got here, they were not even worth the wait!

    Thanks all,

I will try the Library but I am not holding my breath, our Library almost never has anything I need. I have pretty much given up on it after searching and searching and finding nothing. I really wish we had a good Library like other people do.

I guess I am just freaked out. Maybe if I dont get the book in time I can still go on with the school year as planned and order it with super saver shipping.

I am a bit freaked out because this year we are doing an all new curiculum and I already have a case of the nerves from that, then my book dont come.

I normally have really good luck from amazon. Usually the stuff from used sellers comes in BEFORE the new stuff I order using super saver shipping. This is the first time since I have been using amazon that I have had a book come this late.

I know it is a pain in the neck, inconvenient, and not as promised, but, 15 days is not yet reason to assume you are going to be ripped off. Hang in there.
YES! get Amazon involved. I am almost certain it is somewhere in their policy to help you straighten it out. They are a representative seller for those people; a broker so to speak.
And, if it turns out the seller does blow you off altogether, then Amazon ough to make it right without charging you more $ for your inconvenience. besides they want to know customer feedback about the sellers they represent.
You can even call an 800 number and speak to them by phone.
    Just have your tracking info.

Don't panic. I am supposed to start Monday and I do not have all my books; and, of the ones I do have, I am still not completely prepared.
You can do what you are ready for, and still count it as a school day!
In PS they spend time organizing notebooks, and going to ridiculous assemblies where they are introduced to the football coaches, etc. And ALL THAT is within their 180 days.

    Good luck,
    Miller:cool:

    Miller,

Its astonishing what the ps get away with and still call it a school day. My older sons, (one who graduated and one still a Jr in highschool) have came home and told me about days when they just watch movies. Not educational movies, regular old run of the mill movies like you see in a theater. I can imagine what the state would say if I put in my logs that we watched movies all day. They would call it educational neglect. I would not even be able to count that for my hours, but somehow the ps does. Its a shame.

I am going to start the school year, its just going to be harder. Hopefully the first few units of history which are bible related, will last long enough for me to get that book in. I really hate pushing things off to the last minute, it stresses me out.

    Mama Bear,

We put the order in on the 1st of August. Today its going on 16 days, hopefully it will come today. Everything else, all of my books for the year, came in already. The very last thing to come in was my Latin curriculum and that was last week. Hopefully it will come next week. That seller must have shipped it via donkey, or pack mule, or something. Carrier Pigeon? LOL
