Today I went down to school to do some cleaning and clearing out, putting away, preparing for our new student on Monday. One of the things I want to use for reading placement is a placement test from an old PS reading series, Macmillan (as best I know, this series is out of print now). The test has a different test for each level, you have the student do it on their own, and if they score 85% or better, they pass that level and go on to the next. There are 14 levels. I already had done up to the 11th, then skipped some and had done the 14th. So today I was planning to 'fill in' the ones I'd missed. I'm retyping so that it will take less paper, because the original test is all spaced out and takes lots of pages. I thought I'd use the format I'd already established in level 14 to do level 13, so I opened the file and started typing away. I got tired and saved the file. Right AFTER I hit "save", I realized that I didn't hit "SAVE AS" so I've overwritten Level 14 altogether... For most people, maybe half an hour of work. For me, HOURS of typing because my diabetic fingers make so many mistakes! AAaaaaargh!!!

What have YOU done recently that you realized you'd done wrong???

My dh smoked a huge brisket along with our Thanksgiving turkey, and last night after dinner, I left the whole thing in the oven and forgot to put it up in the fridge! When dh went to look for it, I realized I had left it out and a $30 chunk of meat had gone to waste. He splurged on that brisket, knowing we could eat on that thing for days, and I wasted it. Horrible doesn't begin to describe how I felt when I had to tell him what I had done.*sigh*

I promise you, if it wasn't all dried out and unchewable, we'd have eaten it!

Me, too! I have left ground beef in the car after a grocery trip and had to throw it away--very frustrating.

I've also done the "save" vs. "save as" thing.

Went back up to school today, and discovered that I only ruined ONE copy of the file! The other was on the external harddrive! 100% recovered, AND I got the one typed that I needed to do...

Only if it's still somewhat chewable... or capable of benefitting from simmering in gravy to soften up!

Today I tried to warm up a pan of costco cinnamon buns, but realized too late that I hadn't washed the oven cleaner out of the oven last night.... yuck! No cinnamon buns for us, but luckily they were only a premade bunch from costco!

    We had a good laugh!
