Spending money that is! I keep finding more and more stuff I "need" for the upcoming school year. I need to have Amazon and Rainbow Resources put a temporary block on my account or something.:lol:
Lol, know what u mean! This is my first time hs, and I went out to Walmart yesterday and bought a whole bunch of stuff...was really weird not having a school supply list in my hands....I think I bought too much stuff too, considering either returning it or waiting until someday they will need all that With a lot of bigger items, my strategy has been, "let's see if we're going to need it, then we'll buy it".... Wiat and see....wait and see...repeat after me...wait and see.. Lol Good luck!!
I'm like that too... I'm just now starting to learn my lesson... that all that extra stuff tends to pile up lol.. now im thinking about selling some things... but... i know i'll just end up getting more STUFF to take it's place back to school sales are my best friend and my ENEMY
I keep finding things, too, but seem to justify it by saying it will be used by my other two kids as well. I've found that doing a wishlist helps a ton! If you really like something, but don't necessarily need it, just add it to the list, then share it with family for b-days or holidays.
I need them to cut me off over at Homeschool Classifieds and take my PayPal account away from me!:lol:
One thing about it -- pencils don't "spoil" if they don't get used right away. Rubber erasers might, but not for a loooooong time! Looseleaf paper has a looooong shelf life! So if you stock up on those kinds of things, it's not *wasted* money, it's an investment in the future! LOL!
I have everything I need for this year (and the next year lol) yet I still find myself looking at different types of curriculum. I am very happy with my choices, I don't know why I keep trying to find something else. Is there a 12 step program for this??
I bought 2 more books last night at half price books, and then I was searching around online and found a couple of things at R&S that I want. Yeah - I'm never really "done" shopping.
I do all my shopping once a year at tax time, and said "that's it, I'm done," then I find a cool science program, or realize I forgot to buy paint, or decide my organizational system needs tweaking, etc. Dh always says, "now are you sure you've got everything?" Of course I'm sure... until something else catches my eye. Right now I'm having second thoughts about some materials and wondering how to finagle the funds to replace it with something else. which will be perfect until....
I know the feeling! lol I'm always buying something......or changing my mind. I need to have a serious purge. We have waaaay too much "stuff".
Ive been telling DH all week that I need to buy a good dictionary and thesaurus, and today I was writing a new post on here asking for good suggestions...my son walks past, reads the first few lines of my post and says, "mom, whats wrong with our dictionary?" So I ask him to bring it out, and voila, it's the Websters new world childrens dictionary, with thesaurus and other goodies in the back...and here I was planning to buy a new one...
Yes!!! Hello, my name is Tracey and I'm a curriculum-aholic. Oh well, it's all going to a good cause, right?
