I was out shopping today with my coupons and I was so thrilled when I stopped at Rite Aid. I bought: 2 Gain Fabric Softeners (19 oz) 2 Glade Fabric and Air Odor Cleaners (22 oz) 2 Shouts (30 oz) 1 Claritin D, 24 hour, 15 extended release tablets 1 Hand Sanitizer (small size) for, are you ready for this: $.89 + tax (1.49) = $2.38 I did this with coupons and Up rewards. I would say that couponing is worth it.
As a Canadian I am jealous. We can't use more then one coupon for a product Therefore a savings like that just isn't possible.
Usually, depending on the store, we can only use one of each type: one store coupon and one manufacturer coupon. But having both for the same product at the same time doesn't happen often. Usually it's the combination of sales, savings programs (like Rite Aids' +Up), and a manufacturer coupon that gets these types of results.
WWWWWWWOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!! Holy cow...thoroughly impressed here. Wednesdays at our local grocery store is double coupon day, but it only applies to coupons $1 and under. Still adds up though, and I try to go on Wednesdays as much as possible.
Rite Aid has a coupon book for those that get a flu shot and you can match those up with manufacturer's coupons, plus any Up Rewards. I asked for the coupon book and they gave it to me. I didn't get the flu shot. I also got $148.15 of groceries at Giant Eagle (our local store) for $60. 22. I didn't get a picture of that, but the savings was great. I used their savings card, they double coupons, (daily) up to $.99, plus had some of their coupons and stacked them and had $7.00 I can use on my next shopping trip. I love couponing.
I just don't think that type of savings is possible with our one grocery store chain available. At one time, the store would not accept internet coupons, so it was even harder to save. They will accept them now. But there is no savings card or double coupons. We don't have Rite Aid, but I don't get the Walgreens and CVS savings programs. I can't get past buying things I don't need to get rewards to use later.
I <3 the Walgreen's program. I also used to struggle with buying stuff I don't need. But then our church did a HUGE collection drive for personal care items to send to missionaries. I had boxes of stuff. I wouldn't otherwise have been able to give so much, but my stash of "stuff I don't need" was exactly what they needed. It was a real blessing. And I don't look at the register rewards as "use later." I tend to use them immediately. Usually in the same trip. You win, the donation centers win, everyone wins.
I agree Pam I try hard, I do use coupons but with only one store and no double we don't have much of chance down here in Texas. We need more stores. I am jealous when I see all those deals those ladies get and wish I could. But, hey I guess I do the best I can.
