I am looking for easy, and cheap ( maybe easy over cheap) appetizers.

I am having my sons 3rd birthday party on Saturday! We are going to have cake and ice cream. I am just going to do appetizers instead of a meal, because I hate cooking for a crowd of people. There will be about 10-12 adults and just my 3 kids. Almost all the adults are watching their diets for a new years resolution. So if it can be healthy that would be nice.

I am thinking I will do the cowboy caviar ( black beans, pico, and shredded cheddar cheese with corn chips)
Maybe some veggies and dip, maybe some of the sausages in crescent rolls for the kids?
    But I don't know.

    Thanks ahead of time!

The ideas you have sound good! Maybe a sausage/cheese dip with tortilla chips?

When I have to do little nibbles I do:

    Veggie tray with dip
    fruit tray
    Crackers and cheese
Chips, pretzels, tortilla chips and salsa

You could also check my blog, I have a couple inexpensive Aldi appetizers I've done.

    :)

Edited to add....how about meatballs??? Get the mini ones and put in crock pot with equal parts Heinz chili sauce and grape jelly...easy, cheap and DELICIOUS!!!

Great ideas, I will have to check out the meatballs. I used to make Stromboli and I could make one or two of those too. Hmmm

Ants on a log - Either the usual peanut butter with raisins, or my step-dad likes celery with cream cheese topped with crushed pineapple.

Deli rolls - just roll some lunch meat and cheese with a toothpick to hold it together.

Pepperoni rolls - Use crescent dough to make pinwheels with pepperoni filling (some people add cheese; it's good either way).

My daughter loves Little Smokies that have been cooked in a crockpot with grape jelly and yellow mustard. I use a jar of jelly and a small bottle of mustard. It makes a lot if you use four packs and fill the crockpot. I try to buy the Little Smokies when Walmart has them on sale.

I have heard of the meatballs with jelly/chili sauce, but never this one, sounds interesting...we just do little smokies with bbq sauce.

I think you could make little grilled cheese like things with cocktail rye bread (those little squares of rye bread) ..... put a little swiss cheese or munster and put a thin slice of roma tomato Spray one side of the bread with pam, and griddle (or use a panini press) and cut sandwiches in triangles. for the kids get a few boxes of pizza rolls or pizza bagles.

we make our little smokies with the grape jelly ketchup mixture....... with a few shakes of hot sauce.

    yes...... and I HATE CHEESE!

my mom used to make Polish hamburgers:
browned ground beef, mixed with velveta and put on one piece of the rye bread..... I actually would eat those.

My kids refuse rye bread (thanks to dh!). They fuss about wheat bread, too, but I dug my feet in and ignore them! I LOVE those little sausage and Velveeta things on rye bread!

Well, I'm going to throw these out from my blog, but be forewarned -- they aren't particularly in the "healthy" category! ;)

Here are all of my appetizers.

and these are the big favorites that are often requested:
    Chicken Enchilada Dip
    my famous Corn Dip

Actually, my Antipasto Platter is a big hit and can be considered a healthier app.

And this one isn't on my blog just yet, as I made it over Christmas break, but it's so incredibly good! Pizza Dip: my only alteration -- I used the tiny pepperonis on the top because it allowed every scoop to get a good bit of pepperoni in it. I left out the olives because my dad isn't a fan of them and also the green peppers because I didn't have one on hand. I think they would both add a lot to the dish, though.

How could you not like cheese? LOL
Mkel I like your blog, and ideas. The pizza dip looks so tasty, if we don't have it at the party I will have to make it for our family days.

    Thanks!!

Honestly, the pizza dip is even better than it sounds (if that's possible! haha). I was seriously craving it yesterday and nearly made it for no special reason. I ended up not doing it simply out of laziness, but I keep thinking about it... lol

I make a pizza Stromboli that I just love, and for some reason the dip sounds like it would taste like that. I would make the stromboli for the party, but I can't seem to get it cooked all the way through without burning the outside.
