Hi again...Just wanted to post this quick in case anyone has not thought of it. As you know the young readers and also distractable children are told to point at each word as they read them (either to sound them out or to not loose their spot). IF you can find the Halloween "finger tips" that slip over your finger, they are great to use as pointers and keep the child interested. I searched high and low for them when my son started to read and couldn't find them anywhere...but Oriental Trading Post sells them super cheap. This was an idea that was given to my mother as she took me off of my ADHD meds when I was a child and then I was given as a tip with a "remedial" foster child that I had in my home years ago...I was to point at each word as I read to her and then as she began to read more on her own she was to continue by pointing at each word on her own (personally I think she just needed to be read and shown some attention, but that is another story...). Since then I had used them with a few other children who were just starting to read and it worked great for most of them...but then they just couldn't be found anywhere around here but through the Oriental Trading Post (searching for them is actually how I found the Trading Post...). Anyway, hope the tip helps!
