Seriously... I am done having 3 kids (teens at that) doing 3 different things. I can't keep up.

    SO!!!!!

I am getting Tapestry of Grace Year 3 Unit 1 to start them out. I spent the evening while Alexis was at the library book club reserving books on the list and checking to see what was available.

This weekend I will spend time putting together their student workbooks for the unit.

Then after Year 3 - we will roll into Year 4 which I already have... and back to Year 1 (again - I already have that)....

I can't spend a bunch of money since I don't have a bunch right now so the library is going to be my best friend ;)

Some books I already have on kindle and some I have on audio - so I think we should be ok on this if I do it right.

I was just thinking today and I couldn't concentrate on anything that ANYONE was doing - I had no idea which time period and which part of the world.

Just stick with it. I have noticed many people talk about the TOG fog. I'm not sure what it is, but it scares me from even looking at it...lol.

I think with the student workbooks and NOT overdoing it we will be fine. It's scary to look at because of the depth of it with so many levels. We did Year 1 before (just upper & lower grammar) and we survived - it wasn't that bad at that level - but again I didn't check to see what was done because we did most of it together.

Going over all the books last night though - I was impressed at what my library DID have (which gives me hope!) and I was able to figure out how to better use my library.

A lot I already have... a lot are multi-year which is really nice. But I have been slacking SO badly on checking work lately that I am feeling like a wave is coming down. Joe asked me last night "Weren't you prepared for this?" Ummm... NO - because I didn't expect my 17 yr old to EVER want to hang out here all day and do school work! Having her here changes everything in my mind.

I was ok with 2 kids doing 2 different things - Jake was on SOS & Alexis was doing Sonlight Core W. That I COULD deal with. But Jake now wants something different because Karina is doing something else - etc etc etc. Alexis would be happy where she is & I'd be ok with that - however - my brain needs to be able to focus a little better and know what is going on.

I figure we can ease into the harder work - especially with me creating the workbooks. Then just the workbook can be turned in by Friday or Saturday morning so I can check them over the weekend if needed.

With the snow this morning and a 2 hour delay for the little one - I really wish I could teach her as well. I'll probably just keep her home today because I would have to pick her up early anyways from school for an appointment this afternoon.... but it would be nice to just have everyone here and on the same page ;)

What is the workbook? Is that a component of TOG or is it just a binder you will be putting their work in... maybe I need to reread your posts..lol I'm still asleep.

Pretty much it's something I will make for each of them based on the schedule. All their particular readings, map work, government documents, and accountability questions in one place. There are a LOT of places on line where they have shown how everyone did theirs.

I will probably just comb bind mine - or take it to the copy place to spiral bind and plastic cover them. Might use a 3-ringed binder though since that's simple enough as well.

But TOG actually made pages that you can copy and paste for the accountability questions so the kids can answer right in the book - AND I can have different questions for Jake than Karina ;) since they will be working at the same level.

A binder is probably easiest.. you can add pages later that pop into your head... but I like to comb bind things.. and they aren't too hard to add to either. To get the plastic covers on them, I use transparency sheets..lol
