Can you take him to the emergency room? Around here the emergency room can't refuse you. I'm not sure about your state. They bill you. I had to do this with Dh when we didn't have money for the doctor. It cost more in the long run but he will get immediate help and they normally work with you on paying the bill.

I am so glad you took him to ER I worked in ER for years and I will tell you one thing they can't and I mean CAN'T turn anyone away for color, size, money or no money everyone has to be treated..... You look at what the patient comes in with and decide when they get treated. Katie I am sorry you had trouble but I would of checked in on that. Its against the law everyone has to be treated.. Sometimes you might have to wait longer they go by who needs them the most. Not by pain... by what they come in for.. I agree with Megan check for hardship laws all hospital have them they wouldn't tell you, you have to ask..... also get that man a back brace I think they are like 20.00 dollars but if you go on like theres a coupon for 5 dollars off.... I hope he is well soon. I go through this daily with my dh.

Our ER has a sign stating that if your condition is not an actual emergency situation they can refuse to treat you and refer you to a doctor in the clinic.

As far as the back brace goes, Hubby refuses to wear one. I would think it would make him feel better to have something supporting him but he says it hurts more..

Yes, Yes, Yes it does hurt at first to wear it.. if he wears it on the outside of his clothing it will help. Of course it will hurt awhile but after a while wouldn't even know it hurts...
Its the best thing for him...

yes that is what most ER sign say but I have never seen or we have never turn anyone away they might wait longer but never been turn away.
