Remember when Myspace was the best thing since yahoo chat?? Then it got all skanky and everyone migrated over to Facebook and you had this super cool "like" option that allowed you to comment without commenting. Well, I'm kinda over counting the likes on a post to feel "heard"...lol...but with the newness of homeschooling...I find I really want to share / talk about it and much as I loved Fb...It's not really the place to share this. To many opinions against it that just leave me thinking that majority of the people I know are closet idiots (jk..lol..sorta).

So I joined here and i started Journaling on my phone with a super cool app the store had for free a few weeks ago. I still post pics to my instagram account and occasionally I'll share that pic with my fb account..but I've stopped making daily post and I've taken the app off my phone  I still have the messenger incase anyone needs to speak to me directly but i'm hoping to close the account altogether by the end of the year.

    LOL!

I was never a MySpace/Facebook person...but I did chat. I chatted back when MSN chat was THE THING. (kinda dates me!)

The net can be a really nasty addiction for some people. There was a period of time when I chatted enough that it probably wasn't healthy. I finally came up for air and cleared my head...but it's a real thing. Net addiction can be so bad for families...particularly with little kids who need so much stimulation and attention. Having mom and dad plugged in all the time can't be good.

Totally hear you about not being able to share home school stuff with the general masses. Try being an unschooler! LOL. We catch crap from everyone...including other home schoolers! LOL.

Just let it roll off your back and keep listening to your gut...and your kids. If your kids seem like they're doing great to you....trust yourself:) No one cares more about their development and success than you. People fear what they don't understand. It's hard to understand home school when you don't have any experience with it.

As far as escaping the sinister clutches of the Facebook monkey on your back (jk...lol...sorta)....just keep making baby steps:) You'll make it!

Been a long time since I've chatted. I don't miss it. Once upon a time, I craved it like cheesecake and nicotine gum. LOL.

In the mean time...you'll find a lot of encouraging people here who will root for your homeschooling efforts. Post away! We love it:)

Tendin, I'm not trying to talk you back to FB, but I am going to say that I found a couple of closed groups there that are curriculum-specific, where there's not the drama-festival that you run into on "your own". Veterans advising newbies, that's pretty much it. 99% of the time I spend on FB is in my homeschool specific groups. Just sayin'.

I'll have to look into that ...it would be SO helpful to here how others are using this curriculum I have. I went in their website for their chat rooms and no one has been on it since 2009! There were a couple of "hey new here where's everybody at??" Posts but that was all. Such a disappointment considering all the families that are using this program ...
