Hi! I am a single mother of one 9 year old boy. We've been through some rough times the last year and half. I have a chronic illness and am no longer able to work. I was a social worker before I became sick. I have been homeschooling my son since being home. We have moved in with friends for now, until I can find a more permanent situation for us. We are in Lincolnton, NC. I would really like to find at least one other mom out there that lives close to me. My son could really use a friend. I just don't know this area very well. Is there anyone in here that lives close to Lincolnton or that could send me in the right direction of a group that I may be able to network in? Thanks in advance.

I am in another part of the state. I would ask around at the local Christian Bookstores and with the Childrens' Librarians at the public libraries if there is a local homeschool group. Also, alot of local homeschool groups use Yahoo groups to communicate. This way a password is required to log in and read or post keeping things a little less public. Look for facebook pages as well. I hope that you find a group. There is also a website called meetup or meetups where various groups get together for everthing from card games, to wine tasting to play groups to hiking groups and you name it. Some homeschool and other play groups have a standing meeting time at a certain park, like Thursdays at 2pm for example, and who ever can shows up. Other times these are arranged like a mini flashmob when a couple of mothers post that they will be at such and such a park today at x time. I hope you find a group to hang with. Take Care,
