your bread recipe is awesome! I have been trying to years to find the right bread recipe to make pepperoni bread with. Today I made a batch of your bread and the pepperoni bread tastes just like I grew up with! YUM! Thank you for sharing that recipe! I'm planning on using it to make some rolls with for Thanksgiving dinner as well!
GOOD!!! Let me emphasize again that this is not "my" recipe! I found it on-line. But it IS the first recipe I found that made a consistently EXCELLENT loaf of bread! And I'd been looking for a LONG time!!!
I know it's not your recipe specifically, but it came from you and it is seriously yummy!! Ok, pepperoni bread.. I made up a batch of Amish Country White Bread, and instead of shaping it into loaves I divided it in half and basically just pressed it out into a flat rectangle. Then I sprinkle 2/3 with shredded cheese, and top with pepperoni (I use 2-3 layers of pepperoni), then I just roll it up and tuck the ends under. Let it rise for 30 minutes and then bake at 400 for about 25 minutes or until golden brown. Then I just slice it and serve with a nice salad.
if you have ever tweeked the recipe..... its yours. Please share again, its a good day for bread. (it takes me a while to get n the band wagon).
No, I didn't "tweak" it at all, I do it just as it is written. Birbitt, my kids have decreed that is what they want for dinner tonight!!! They make Pepperoni Bread at Great Harvest, and we use to get it for lunch every once in a while, but it's gotten too expensive. So they've decided we need to try "yours". OK, Amy! Here it is: Amish Country White Bread 3 tbs. sugar 2 tbs. butter 1 tbs. salt 2 cups hot water* 1 tbs. (or 2 pkg.) yeast 1 tbs. sugar 1/2 cup hot water* 6 1/2 cup bread flour *I try to get it between 110° and 120° combine first three ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Pour 2 cups hot water over top. Dissolve yeast with remaining sugar in 1/2 cup wataer. Add to first mixture, mix well. Add enough flour to make a workable dough. Knead for 10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise for 30 minutes. Punch down, cover and let rise again for 15 minutes. Repeat for three more 15 minute periods, for a total of 1 1/2 hours. Divide the dough in half and shape into two loaves. Place in a greased 9x5" bread pan. Cover loosely with plastic wrap. Let rise 30 minutes. Remove plastic wrap and bake at 400° for 30 minutes. remove from pans and butter tops to soften.
If only I was a moderator, I could get Jackie to do what I tell her to do. In all sincerity, thanks for reposting. Writing it down as we speak....er....type.
well I am a modorator......... but I wonder what would make my own children do what I tell them? ........... THanks Jackie........ boy if I hadn't taken 5 hours to clean out the craft closet then I could have made bread....... I guess I have to just make myk breadsticks for today and make this yummy bread recipe a different day.
LOL! So tell the kids you're changing your title from MOTER to MODERATOR.... It wouldn't work at MY house, I'm afraid! So what's the recipe for the bread sticks, Amy?
I hope your children enjoy it Jackie! I love it and you can spread the bread as thin or thick as you like, I like less cheese, but I do double layer the pepperoni. My hubby prefers this with sausage crumbles, but I'm not a big sausage fan...
We make Amish Country White Bread here and love it. BUT! It will always be called Jackie's bread here. I know, I know! You got the recipe somewhere and just shared it here, but even on my recipe card it says, JACKIE'S BREAD. I can't wait to try the pepperoni bread. My kids will love that!
I have a recipe in my box called "Mrs. Allen's Potato Salad". It was the first potato salad I would eat, and is still the one I like "best", though I will eat my mil's now. I dated Mrs. Allen's son off and on for about eleven (!!!) years, and actually called her up after he was married to ask her for the recipe. I also named my first car after her. When she found out my car was named Alice, she was NOT particularly impressed! My second was Mabeline, after my g'ma Mabel. And she thought is was great that I named my car for her!
 My brother has a brownie recipe called "Jimmy Mason's Brownies". It's named that because his friend who gave him the recipe used to steal Jimmy's brownies from his lunch box, or so the story goes.
