Someone asked about the Jesse tree so I thought I'd start a new thread. :)

The Jesse tree has you do a Bible lesson and make a Christmas ornament for everyday until Christmas... It Covers from when God made the world to the ressurrection. There is a book I think that has the Bible readings and how to make ornaments, but you can get them online just as easy.

I use a small Christmas tree for it but I see that lots of people just use a branch or a picture of a tree. Jesse Tree comes from Isaiah 11:1: "A shoot will spring forth from the stump of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots."

You can read more about it and get a calendar with what the readings are and what ornament to make here: http://www.crivoice.org/jesse.html#Jesse Make

I just look for crafts online to make the ornaments enchanted learning has a fruit mobile for example that we will scale down and just do an apple for one. But if you like you can get pictures here and just have the kids color them or trace them or whatever: http://www.domestic-church.com/CONTENT.DCC/19971201/FRIDGE/FRIDGE1.HTM

Here's a different version of a Jesse Tree, there are lots so if you don't like a particular symbol it calls for, just use a different one. :) http://www.catholicculture.org/lit/activities/view.cfm?id=545

Sure :). I think the calendar starts Tuesday, so we have a couple of days left to get organized. I saw a small tree with fiber optic lights on it already at Dollar General the other day for $10. I already have a little one that I just leave the lights on it every year. LOL

We are doing it instead of our regular Bible lessons this month so it's not too much extra to do.

We are going to start ours today. We are going to go out and get a branch from the big fur on the side of the house. We will do an intro today and start with the ornaments tomorrow. I'm so glad you shared, I can't wait to start.

I thought I'd share how we are doing our various ornaments. I'm not very organized and figure out most of them at the last minute. LOL I'd love to hear how you ladies do yours too.

Today we are making the apple from this moblie craft only making it smaller.

I have planned the Whale already... we are going to make it from a painted walnut shell (glue on fins and googley eyes), I have the craft in a book of Bible lessons.

I'm still deciding on how to make an ark for tomorrow, If I don't think of something I love we'll make a rainbow.

here is a coloring page, if you don't click on the image you'll just print it as shown and it will be small. Maybe you can glue tooth picks to the ark for wood??

Thanks we made the ark on an envelope, Sami colored it and then I found a picture of Noah and a dove and we tucked him in the envelope.

For Abraham we read about the promise that his decendants would be like the stars and made a little 3-d star.

our ram is from http://misslink.org/children/biblestories/ramcraft.html (I shrunk it and Samiwill glue cotton on it.)

We are going to make the ladder out of toothpicks

I gota tent pattern here for the empty tent
