Someone told me about these billboards today. Her son told her about them (he lives in New York) so I found a news article about it. I read the article but did not look at the website. Thought it may get a good discussion started if anyone wants to put in their two cents. Just for the record, I do not believe what they are publishing since the Bible tells us that only God knows the day and time.
Well, we'll know May 22nd if it's accurate. So many have predicted and been so wrong. Bible tells us no one knows the day or hour, not even the son of Man, so....I do think we can know the "season" and keep our eyes looking up for them. But...Harold Camping predicted this many years ago, and he was found to be false. So....considering the source, I do not trust the information. A prophet is only proven when his prophesies are proved. So. What will happen on may 22nd, and we're all still here??? he'll do what he did the last time....take a few months off, regroup, and then spout an new prediction with the reason he was wrong and why this NEW prediction is more accurate. Wolf in sheeps clothing, fleecing the sheep. Sad, really. Many people predicted the end of the world when the calendar rolled into 2000. That was a bust too. I think until I feel my body disappearing, I'll continue to live as though his return is imminent.
Uh, no. First of all, as kbabe said, NO ONE knows the day or the hour. NO ONE. Second, they've got the order wrong -- the first part of the Rapture is that those who are dead in Christ will rise first, THEN those who belong to Christ who are still alive will go up to meet Him in the air. I don't think the total end and destruction of the universe is scheduled for five months later... What about the Millennium of Peace? I don't think they're going to get the Temple in Jerusalem rebuilt and operational by May, either. We haven't seen the Anti-Christ, and there's so much else...... uh-uh. Besides, "everybody knows" it's scheduled for December 2012!!! LOL, ROFL!!!
As you say, not even the Son knows the day or the hour, so maybe we should point Him to this billboard. Do you have directions?
What frustrates me is that they are taking a FACT (Christ will return) and putting their own spin to it. When it doesn't happen when they say, people will think the entire FACT is wrong. "Christ coming back? Yeah, right! I thought He was suppose to do that last week!"
LOL. Steve, you are too funny! I had to laugh when I heard about this billboard thing and thought you guys would love to talk about it. Jackie, you are so right. Peter's words come to mind: "For you know this first, that in the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires*and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep [in death], all things are continuing exactly as from creation’s beginning.”" 2 Peter 3:3,4
When I think of the comoing of Christ I get mixed feelings. I feel excitment to see His face! And then I feel hurt knowing that so many people, many I know personally, will never know the joy and happiness they could have but won't because they still don't believe. As far as someone predicting the day - to me their a bunch of quacks. Nobody knows.
This brings back the book that came out in 1988, 88 reasons the Lord will return... (and they had the date sometime in Sept.) NO one knows when Christ will return for his own, but that book got many in church but for only a short time frame... they wanted to be in church incase it was true... than they were out. (I was only 12 at the time!) Funny how people are... Hey Christ could come in the rapture today, this min, the next hour.. you never know, just make sure your heart is right!
I know what will happen... My daughter will turn 7 yrs old, its her birthday!!! This guy isn't the first to proclaim to know when Christ will return, and he wont be the last. As others have stated, NO ONE knows when Christ will return so we will just have to be patient and wait
You're right, no one knows the DATE OR TIME. But I DO believe God can make the SEASON known. Take Noah. He warned the people. He didn't know exactly when the flood would come, but he had an idea of "around" when.
I'm with MonkeyMomma. I am excited, but sad. I selfishly want to watch my kids grow up. But then I look around me and see all the evil of the world, and I know that being caught up in the clouds with my Savior, with my kids right beside me, is an awesome thing! However, I am content to wait until HIS timing
No I don't believe it is May 21st. We have heard about this for a while and I laugh everytime. The bible says No man knows. We can know the season and there are many signs that it could be very soon but to pinpoint an actual day is crazy!
I agree. The Bible speaks of what types of things will be happening in the world in the last days. It is scary and a little exciting when you see the words in scripture coming to life. The world is a much scarier place now then when I was a kid. You can see it getting worse and more anti-God everyday. But He did warn us that this would happen, in addition to the warning of FALSE PROPHETS!
I don't know if any of you have ever listened to Harold Camping on Family Radio (That's who is putting up those billboards), but he is way out there on his theology. First of all, he is a false prophet. He previously calculated and predicted the rapture and it didn't happen so he had to recalculate and now is somehow right? Since we already know he is a false prophet we cannot take seriously anything he says. He believes (and I know this because I have heard him say it a few times on his radio program) that we are no longer in the church age and nobody can get saved in a church. The only way to get saved, according to him, is through avenues like Family Radio. Seems a little odd that he is preaching to people that the only way they can be saved is through his program? Sounds exactly like a cult.
Well, maybe God got it wrong the first time I'm sure God will just keep telling Mr. Camping the date until He gets it right. Thanks for the info, Cmreed! Doesn't surprise me at all! While I agree there's LOTS of "dead" churches around and lots of "church" people who aren't saved, I sure am not going to turn from those that ARE doing what God tells them to be doing, and turn to some rogue radio show!
It's a pet peeve of mine, but I never watch so-called Christian TV or listen to so-called Christian radio. I know that many people enjoy Christian radio stations, so I wouldn't want to inflict my preferences on them, but the NT model is the local church, where we can learn and study and grow together. The power of mass media, in general, is frightening, so it's no surprise that cults and/or wrong teaching abound there - princes of the power of the air(waves).
