Jimmie Lu, I was wondering where you got your Beautiful Feet Early American History and is it something that I can do with both kids at once? Is it your child that's doing the quilt blocks? If so do you need someone from Idaho? One last question, I want to have my kids make up little care packages for the sick kids in the hospital. How do you start something like that? Thanks for letting me ask so many questions.
I know I'm not Jimmy Lu, but are you talking about doing one child in the Primary book and one in the Intermediate book at the same time? Because if that's what you mean, my advice is DON'T!!! I tried to do it this year, and it was a complete disaster! If you're talking about doing two kids from the same book, that would be fine.

This is just my opinion, so you go ahead and do what you think is best for your kids. My daughter will be 10 next month, and I feel the primary book is too easy for her. There's a lot of reading a few pages in a book, copying a picture from it, coloring it, and then copying the caption onto the page. That's fine for your younger one, but not for the older. And the Intermediate one would be too much for your younger child. I tried combining them together, because there's a good deal of overlap, and found it VERY difficult.

First of all, my girls are closer in age than yours. One will be 8 on Friday, and the other 10 next month. I sort of quit trying at Christmas, and went to state history. We got the "State History Notebook", which has been wonderful. They've one for older and one for younger, and theyw ere designed to use together. I expanded on it some by using a local history book and making a timeline which we put on the wall. Next year, I am going to try a more classical approach. We will be doing "The Ancients" together. I'll be using "The Mystery of History" (rather than "Story of the World" that everyone else is doing, lol!), and we will continue doing it together as much as possible. I expect there to be lots of reading aloud, and then narrating it back. We've been practicing written narration, which I expect to do lots more of next year. Last year I taught the states east of the Mississippi River to the girls together. That went very well, also, so it CAN be done.
Diana Waring is suppose to have wonderful history books with a Christian perspective, too. I was trying to look into them, but was unable to get answers to the questions I had.
