I just thought I would pass on this cute thing that happened today. My kids all have little mail boxes (from the craft store) that they decorated. Some times I leave little notes in them and some times treats and very rarely bills ($1 bills). The other day they had a special at the grocery store for Mike & Ike candy 4 for $1. (works out good with 4 kids). Today I put the candy packets in the mail boxes. When they came to check the boxes today, My son exclaimed..."hey we got junk mail!" meaning junk food in the mail box. I thought it was kind of cute. This is the one kid that has hardly any sense of humor, so it was particularly funny coming from him. :) So when you go to check your mail today, and if all you get is junk mail, don't grummble, at least its not bills.

    Priceless!

When our oldest was about 2 years old my honey was reading him a book of animals. They got to the baboon and my honey said, "This is a baboon".
Our son said, "No dad, a good boon".

When Rachael was that age, she had just started in Sunday School. One Sunday morning, I had been up early nursing Faythe. I was back in bed, trying to get just a little more sleep. DH was dressing, and Rachael was jumping on me, yelling, "GET UP, MOMMY!!!" I hid my head under the covers, trying to just get a few more minutes. Finally, I responded with one of the "Bible Verses" she had learned. "Peace, be still!" Without hesitation, she responded with the other verse she had learned...."Jesus said, 'Rise up and walk!'"

We live in Oklahoma in "Tornado Alley" and our springs are usually full of strong thunderstorms and tornado warnings/watches. The kids have just gotten used to the weather radar on the news and can point out where we are located in the state so they can watch for the storms to come.

When my daughter was 3, we were getting a really hard thunderstorm and I had the TV on to check the radar. My daughter got all excited, "Oh, goodie the rain is here!"

She ran to the window to look outside and then ran back to the TV radar, then back to the window again. She came to me disappointed and said, "Mommy, I wanted to see the purple rain like the radar says. But, we just have the regular rain".

    I love these stories! :)

Last year, when ds was 6yo, he asked if I could cook "messies" for supper. Dh and I could not figure out what on earth he meant. After playing the parent/child version of "20 questions", we discovered he meant "Sloppy Joes"!!! Of course, now our family name for sloppy joes is.... "messies"! :-D

    Blessings

ABall- that is a cute idea with little mailboxes. And I love the junk mail!

The other stories are cute as well. I recently had to go out of town for a family funeral (the whole family couldn't come with me :-( ). Anyway, the night before I left I put sticky notes in special spots for the kids. When I flew back in the next day and we were all loaded back in the car, my 5 yr old said, "Mom, we found YOU all over the house!" I thought that was pretty sweet.

I did the note thing when I had to go out of town for a funeral, Being the longest time I have been away from them, I hid little notes every where, they still didn't find them all before I got back.

the mail boxes I got came from Micheals craft store, I let the kids decorate with stickers. But we got the idea from Oriental trading Co. they have card board ones if you need a lot (12). I actually spent the same amount of $ for 4.

When Carl and I were engaged, I went on a Singles Retreat while he stayed home. I arranged for something for him each day...Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. My room mate, who was also going, was in on them all and helped me with the planning. What I did NOT know was that she was ALSO on HIS arrangements for ME!!! The best one was when he made a big banner with Print Shop (remember those?) which she hung up in the rear of the room we had our sessions in. I walked in and sat down, and everyone who was already there started giggling. Turned around, and THERE IT WAS!!! "I MISS YOU, JACKIE!!! LOVE, CARL" My room mate had a blast being on both sides!!!
