Wondering who can "pass 4th grade" http://www.funforwards.com/index.cfm?action=view&id=4716&scid=9747 Enjoy!
Okay--I tried it! Took me about 10 tries to get even 40 states of the 48 listed. I find the upper east states are hard - I live in the south and these are the ones I know the best. Sabrina
It took me a number of tries too...I think because my brain moves so slow with it...my thought goes something like Trenton, that's NJ, and NJ is here, and there it is...but my son thinks more like Trenton, NJ, and there it is (he got it on his 2nd try)...I hope that makes sense, I guess what I am trying to say is that my brain went through too many steps and therefore took too long...
I did it on the second try. That's because I learned them as a kid, and we went over the states east of the Mississippi a few years back with my kids. Plus, we play a game with the kids when we travel. I HAVE bookmarked it, and had my daughter work on them yesterday.
Oh dear, guess it's a good thing that we're working on that very stuff this year, since my dd is in 4th grade. We're just not to that point yet....OBVIOUSLY since I flunked! I never was good at geography...
I'm on try number (at least) 7 or 8... With all the focus on the southern states (TX, LA, MS, AL, FL) they're easy to fill in. Others like: CA, ME, CT, MA, NC, SC, MI, OH WI are easier for me - it's all the stuff in between that I'm struggling with... hey! I'm learning too - and I'm too determined not to let this get to me so I'll keep trying until I pass... does it matter if I'm in Canada ???
At long last I have FINALLY passed grade four (and I'm a little frustrated too) I only passed in the nick of time
Brenda, I can pass the fourth grade here in the USA, but don't ask me to do it for Canada! I think I know more than many, but..... I'm not sure I could label all the provinces and their capitals.
Oh Gosh...if you are outside the country and get even half of them I say you pass  I would be SOOOOOO lost if handed a map of Canada or nearly any other country to do the same in...but I could name the countries on the continents although Africa might be a stretch....
Try this site: http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/web_games_menu.htm It may have been posted on here before, but I think I got it originally from a friend. Rachael has learned to identify most of the countries of Europe and South America through playing these.
Oh Jackie, I LOVE this site! This is just what my kids need for this year! (yeah right, JUST my kids? I need it more than they do!!!) Anyway, I will know a lot more about geography (shows you how well my schools did in that subject, eh?!) in the next few months! Hey, anyone know if there is a site like that for presidents? We have the placemats that we use, but the interactive games make it more fun!
