HI I'm from Texas and have fretting over homeschooling my little guy since he was born. My husband has wanted us to HM School the whole time. I wanted to give our son a chance to see how school was, so we let him go to kindergarden. Which in turn ended up be a nightmare the whole year. First off our son who would normally get a cold every once in a while like normal children ended up being sick with ear infections and a constant head cold for 8 MONTHS. That was the start of us choosing to take him out because in Texas your child can't miss more than 18 days of school in the school year, with out you having to go to court and explain yourself why your child missed school. luckly my boy only missed 17 days. Also each time I would go to my childs class room it was like a daycare without supervision! Kids beating on kids, running around screaming and yelling. the teacher was obviously overwhelmed. After going to class for multiple occations I sat down with my husband and told him that I felt that I do a better job of teaching my child than some stranger who didnt have a clue of what my beliefs and ways of life are. So we talked to our son and he agreed that we'd all try our best to give each other the best education that we could for each other. So please wish me luck I'm sure it's the best and right thing to do.

Welcome to the Homeschool Spot and to homeschooling. I wish I had started homeschooling my kids as early as you are going to be doing. My husband and I homeschool our youngest two children. We have seven. One of our daughters will be in ninth and one in fourth next school year and this will be our second year homeschooling. I love it and have seen so much improvement in the girls. I hope you love is as much as we do. Beth

Here is a tidbit of advice that took me a while to learn....

When it comes to finding stuff on the internet, we all find those websites that seem to be too good to be true and we want to PRINT Everything on their site... Lord help me when I find one of those free worksheet sites!!!haha!

However, here is my rule of thumb on this issue....

I PRINT only what I will use this WEEK.
I SAVE (Or download) only what I will use this month.
Everything else; I BOOKMARK for later.

Otherwise you will go into debt, due to printing and you may never use any of it!

Many of us here, joke that when we find one of those awesome websites that we "Get Lost" in them and that we need someone to "Send help if not back in 24 hours!" Hahahaha!

So, been there, done that.. still guilty of it, often!
