I feel like it's been forever since I've logged on. Major withdrawal! So here's my story.
Sunday the 14th, I was in great back pain. I must have passed out at one point, because I awoke to hear my dd calling my mom in hysterics. An aunt who lives close by was notified and came over. Dh was at work over 4 hours away. A neighbor came to care for the kids. Spent most of the day in the ER with multiple tests. Diagnosed with a kidney stone- my first one. At 7 mm, the dr said it wouldn't pass on its own. He sent me home with pain killers and told me to call an urologist in the morning.
Was able to be seen Wed (17). Advised to have surgery to remove it. Surgery was done last Friday. It should have been an out-patient surgery, but there were complications. When I woke up, it was the worst pain I've ever felt in my life! I screamed for nearly 2 hours while the nurses tried to get my pain under control. I have very little memory of those 24 hours, except for being told I would have to stay overnight.

I was released late Saturday afternoon, still connected to a catheter and also with a tube running from my kidney to my bladder. I spent the whole weekend crying.
Monday morning, my friend brought me back to the clinic for a check-up. The nurse took one look at me and called for the dr to arrange an immediate admit. Even after admitting me, it still took three days to get the pain to bearable. My dr didn't show up for three days!!!! No other dr did either! The nurses were so frustrated and upset. Finally my husband called our family doctor and asked for a transfer to another hospital. She had the other drs hopping so fast it was almost comical. I was seen by three doctors in less than an hour and finally put on medication that worked.
Turned out that during surgery, the laser became lodged in my kidney and wouldn't budge. It took over an hour to get it back out. In the process, my "tube" was torn. That's why I was in so much pain.
Although I still have the artificial tube in to promote healing, it should be out next week. I will continue to be in some pain till at least that point, but hopefully not for much longer.
Obviously, homeschooling has not been done for two weeks. I'll be glad to get back into the swing of things.
Asking for prayers for healing and strength. My body is very drained and I just want to sleep all the time.

Sorry to hear about all the medical trouble!! I had kidney stones once and thought I was dying. I did pass it on my own (after 3 days of very intense pain), so I can imagine the you've had a tough time!! Parying for some relief and rest.

Oh my! Even reading this made me cringe! I hope and pray that you are healing rapidly! You're probably on a special diet now, to prevent more stones from developing?

DH has had kidney stones more than once. I know what they're like!!! The hospital's behavior was totally inexcusable!!! Praying for a quick recovery, and for extra obedient children while you're healing.

Sorry to hear that you have been in such pain. The drs should have been more careful and understanding about your pain. Praying for a quick recovery and the children behaving theirselves. Rest all that you can.

Had a kidney stone in April - very painful.

Wow...I think my jaw dropped a couple of times, at least, while reading your post! I am so sorry for what you have been going through. I just can't even imagine no doctor coming in to see you for 3 days!!!! That is unexusable for sure! But thankfully you are home now and are on your way to healing.

    Will be praying for you!

The DOCTORS behavior was totally unacceptable. Dr's are suppose to see you at least once every 24 hours while you are admitted to the hospital. I would make sure that the Dr is not charging you or your insurance for visits on those days. Also I can tell you - he knew he messed up and was avoiding you so he wouldnt have to explain. He is fully expecting you to sue him I am sure. I hate when Dr's do that. I am a nurse and I always wonder why some of them do that instead of coming clean with the pt. It is not like he intended for this to happen, but since it did he could have at least taken care of you. You poor thing- I had a kidney stone when I was 7 months pg and they couldnt do anything for me b/c of the baby. I did take some pain meds, but I passed it shortly before I got the meds. It was horrible so I know how you feel!

    what a journey

hi im new here and i came to this page and was amazed and in awe i will pray for you but i want to say that i hope you are putting some type of lawsuit in action for those doctors that was not fair what they put you through. And another thing is ry to get your body back to normal and try to keep things that you consume in your body natrual this would help you heal quickly and also prevent this from happening again. My prayers are with you and your family.

My husband was seriously considering suing, but I agree with all of you. I just don't know if it's worth it. We did speak to customer relations and filed a complaint. They were in utter shock and contempt at that doctor's actions.
The only thing we can do now is warn others. Sometime word of mouth and loss of patients is the only way to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else. Although I know that "revenge is the Lord's" and not mine; I also want to protect others from the same situation.
Yes, I do believe that he knew he screwed up and just didn't want to have to explain himself. To top it off, he sent in his partner first. The partner was telling me all about the differences in my Cat Scans. I had only had ONE ct!!!! My dh ordered him out of my room when it became apparent he had never looked at my charts.
Thanks for alerting me to let my insurance know that there were no doctor visits for the first three days. He certainly doesn't deserve pay for those days!
Trying to sleep, but just can't get comfortable. I still have to take my pain pills consistenly or the pain resumes control again. Of course, I'm also worried about finances. We have great insurance, but both dh and I missed a week of work. That's a huge chunk of our income. I just keep telling myself to trust the Lord.
    Thanks for all your prayers!

Yeah, I believe in the "Revenge is the Lord's" and not suing...... But sometimes I think, in dangerous cases such as this, that you may be able to get that doctor on a blacklist or at least cause others to be aware of what he did WITHOUT OWNING UP TO IT, then sending you home in that condition, and the lack of care, sending someone in to advise you that had never even looked at your charts (wouldn't that be illegal as well?!), also the lost wages...... I wouldn't want anyone else to ever have to go through all that!!! So then I wonder if maybe suing would save someone else's life or at least the agony you have been through???! I'm not saying I'd sue. I'm saying, I guess, that I'd pray long and hard for God to guide me in what to do!

Wow, I'm just so sorry all that happened. It's good to have you back here, and I am still praying for you!

well ladies I went through something like this along about 2 years ago with my dh, he almost died, it was a sad, sad thing that almost took his life.and we thought of suing and believe me with all the new laws it's not easy. You have to find another doctor to say what that doctor did was wrong.. and you know he did wrong but they wouldn't take your word. It's hard and alot of stress... to find a another doctor to test against the one that did wrong is almost unheard of. we did get ours on the blacklist but that's all.
