For those of you that use are have thought about using K12.com courses independently (not through the public school option, I'm referring to materials purchased through K12 and used independently by parents without oversight), just saw some good news when browsing through their curriculum list.

It looks like at least with math and literature, they're offering a choice between a version of the course that's Common Core aligned, and one that isn't. So it looks like you can follow either path depending on your preference, at least with math and literature. Will need to dig deeper to see which other courses this affects, if any.

Well! That's good to know. I wouldn't be getting it anyway, because last time I checked, it was not exactly in my price range. But it's good to know anyway.

I realize it's on the pricey end so not used by everyone, but thought I'd throw it out there.

I was surprised -- was looking through the course list and saw two versions of certain courses, one marked with an asterisk. Lo and behold, turns out they're offering a version not aligned with common core! Glad they're responding to all of the negative feedback with options. I know which one we'll be purchasing (particularly with literature)!

We use a public charter and have bought independently and I will tell you that the 2 options only last as long as they have materials left. That is how they integrated color math a few years ago. They still sold the other math for about 2 years as they depleted their supply of already printed materials they had on hand.
As they change the literature, you will only have about 2 years before they phase out the old version for that grade level. They will basically have the old version available only until all their printed materials are gone.

Good to know. Thanks for the clarification. (So I'd better buy all materials through high school now before they're all CC aligned! ;) )
