I hope for the kids' sake that it's a good experience. I would imagine she'd probably do cyber. I don't see her having the patience to teach them herself. LOL :)

Oh well...hopefully she's a better teacher than dancer.

On the positive side. If Kate can do it, anyone can. :)

I have a hard time believing Kate is actually homeschooling the children. Undoubtedly a nanny or helper is actually in charge of the children's education.

It will be interesting to see what happens... I can't wait to read each child's biography in 20 years!

well, on one hand, at least the idea is getting out there. On the other hand, it's Kate Gosselin! does anyone really take her seriously? Hard to say what,if any, effect this will have on the hs movement. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Did anyone actually read the link? How sad! :( I feel sorry for those kids. They're so sweet, but they've had a very tough life. I wish I could snatch them up, hug them, and tell them it'll all be ok. I think she should HS all of them, not just 2.

I may be in the minority here, but honestly I don't think Kate Gosselin is any better or worse mother than any of us here! Firstly I don't really think it is our place to judge her abilities at parent, teacher, wife, or any other role she plays in her life. Secondly, I personally think she is just as good a mother as I am or anyone else here for that matter. Yes, she makes mistakes, but so do I and so do you I am sure. We are all fallible humans, we all make mistakes, and we all do the best we can for our children!

As for her decision to homeschool two of her children...I think it's great for her and her children if it gives them all what they need. I also don't think it has any affect on homeschooling in general. We are all mothers (and fathers) trying to do what's best for our children.

My first impression- bad if she doesn't have help or learn to let go of some control issues. That is the same with all of us though. Maybe she will learn more about all of her kids through all of this.

I think we are too harsh on Kate as a society. I don't dislike her, I found sometimes she was too worried about little things, but I am the same way. I recognize it and I am working on it and maybe she is too. I think she honestly loves them and that will get people through some major hurdles.

Who is she? Sorry, I'm not a TV person, and I don't know who most people are. It took me FOREVER to figure out who J Lo was, and that Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana were the same person!

I'm assuming she's a celeb. In that case, I agree with Krista. She'll probably do cyberschool.

I am glad you asked because I don't have a clue either. And I don't know who J Lo is and have never heard of Miley Cyrus. I have heard of Hannah Montana, though. So who is she.

In the mean time, I agree with Birbitt.

Kate and her husband Jon had two girls, twins, and they decided to try for another child. Because of fertility issues, they used science to assist, and ended up having sextuplets. So they ended up with a reality tv show of their own, Jon & Kate Plus 8. A lot of people were dismayed at how she talked to him on the show -- he's very laid-back, wasn't that concerned if the kids' clothes matched and whatever, and she's more Type-A. At any rate, they eventually split up, and she's gone on to have Kate Plus 8 and be on Dancing With the Stars. The family has had to have tons of extra help to deal with 8 kids -- but they've also gotten paid pretty well from the tv show and thus have been able to afford a new house, and stuff like private school for all the kids.

The first news article I saw said that the two that are now homeschooled were expelled for hitting and bad language, and that their father said he had no idea where the bad language came from. It didn't say Kate was homeschooling them herself, just said that they were homeschooling now. The article I saw also said that the rest of them have "rage issues" as well, related to the stress of the taping for the current show. But I would guess that they should be so used to it by now, having the cameras around all the time (they've been doing this since the 6 were a few weeks old). In the past, any time Kate said shut it down, they stopped taping, like if it was getting too intrusive or something. (Of course, they didn't leave, just stopped for a little while.)

I haven't watched the Kate Plus 8 version -- I kinda lost interest when the parents were on the screen more about Jon's behavior and the divorce than they were about the kids.

I agree 100 percent well said she is no worst then me, you or the Druggers. She might be a wonderful homeschool mom. She just gets pick on because they are in the headlines all the time and tv picks what people want to see. She is under tons of pressure.

I didn't know who it was either. I don't know how I would handle sextuplets but I could understand the need for money with eight children all at once. Most people spread it out a little bit more than that and use hand-me-downs etc. Not to mention how does someone care for six newborns at once?

I probably would be more uptight if I always had a camera in my face. As it is we do major cleaning before we have guests over but a camera around all the time sounds horrid. I do feel for the kids. How sad to have all your faults televised and to live with everyone knowing you the entire time you are growing up. I would probably want to move to another country.

I also agree that this has been a very difficult time for the kids. The only thing worse than having your parents split up is having it all in the media for everyone else to judge. These kids could probably use some more home time to escape from all the stress and other people's opinions. Hopefully she does a great job and this helps the kids.

HEY! I was at the dentist office today, and she was mentioned in a magazine! I picked it up, and actually knew who she was, thanks to y'all!

They also had a picture of the guy playing Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit. I'm looking at him thinking, "I know him. WHERE FROM?" Couldn't figure it out, and the caption beneath his picture mentioned something I would have never seen. But then I read the article; he plays Dr. Watson in the Sherlock Holmes that we were watching on PBS. So when Rachael came out, I showed her the picture, and she says, "Oh!! Yes!!! It's....um...HIM! Yeah, he's on...um...." LOL!!!

I never liked her. Of course I don't know her personally and have nothing to base my feelings off of except what I have seen on the shows or in celebrity news. On their first show when they were still married I thought she was a loud mouth bully. Here lately I have read that on Halloween she slept in the passenger seat of the car while her body guard drove the kids around to trick or treat and that the kids had to stay totally quiet in the car so as not to wake her up. Sounds like a crappy time for the kids. How much of that is true? Could be none, could be all. We don't actually know right? Then the kids got kicked out of school for fighting and it is said that all the kids have anger issues and are bullies to the other kids. I in no way believe that Kate is homeschooling those kids herself. Last week there was picture of her in a mini skirt and heels taking her kids into a Fantastic Sam's (I think) to get hair cuts, the short article said that she spends $13 a pop for her kids to get cuts but spend $7000 a month on her own hair. Apparently it costs a lot of money to keep that weave looking fresh.

Well, I personally don't have much of an opinion about her, I never watched the show. But I do know that, most of the people I hear talk about her, have a not so great opinion of her.

Personally, from what I do know of her, which as I said, isn't much, she seems like a normal, typical parent. Who does good and bad. No parent is perfect, she is no different, neither am I or anyone else here.

I remember the big stink about her spanking one of her kids. I support her in that. Sometimes kids needs spankings. I understand, many people are very anti-spanking, and those were some of the ones attacking her at that point, but as a spanker myself, I support her choice to spank when needed. I think she handled th situation and press about that very well.

However, as it seems most people have a rather negative opinion of her and her parenting, I do think her decision to homeschool 2 of her kids could be negative press for the homeschool community. Just as the Westboro church is negative press for the Christian community.

When famous people do things, it does affect how people in general view those things. Just like the bad press on Radical Unschoolers brought all homeschoolers bad press. Even though radical unschoolers are a very small percentage of homeschoolers. I know I had several people mention the news stories to me and criticize ALL homeschoolers because of it.

I am not a fan of Kate. At all. However, I think with all the money she has and resources that will be available she will probably find a way to succeed. Besides, she wouldn't have much of a show if she sent the kids to school all day. She is probably doing it for more TV time and keep the show interesting.

Here is my problem with the whole thing................................if your kids are getting kicked out of school for rage issues at the age of 6 something is seriously wrong. The TV cameras need to go and mom and dad need to stop worrying about fame and parent their kids!
