Our new kitty was doing fine for about 2 weeks, then today peed on the floor. She knows where the litter box is. According to her papers is almost 14weeks old. She's had all her shots. My question is, has anyones cat continued this behavior, if it started young? I thought that since we got her so young that she wouldn't go outside the box, as she already knows how.

Our cat has always done her business in her box though she is quite picky about the type of litter and she doesnt like for any little treasures to be left behind when she steps inside. We clean her box daily.

Put her in the box and rub her feet in the litter to encourage her to go. Our cat was orphaned at about 4 days old so we had to teach her how to use the box by rubbing her feet in it and seemed to come naturally.

have you recently changed her litter? Some cats/kittens will not use the box if the litter is different, also they sometimes will not use it if it's dirty.

Nope always used this litter, hasn't been changed.
We do clean the litter box twice a day, nothing has changed their either.
I have been putting her in every 1/2 hr now and rubbing her paw in the litter.
Kitten in only 1.24 lbs right now.

Maybe she just had an "accident" like children do....I know our little kitten had one of those when she was younger. She'd been litter trained for about a month and a half and suddenly she pooped right on my living room carpet....never happened again though. I think she just didn't make it to the litter box.

Jeannie's goofy cats whizz just beside the pan once in awhile, and we scoop that thing nearly hourly. They'll even scratch outside the pan, like they're preparing to go. I don't know what that means, lol. We've been using the same litter since we brought them home, too.

Also, the spot she went at, I sprayed with a pet cleaner spray and then with a cat spray that is supposed to prevent re-soiling. I then laid a sheet of foil on that place. Still taking her to the box every 1/2 hour too.

Does the litter box have a hood? Our cat likes her privacy!

We had a cat once that would go the 2nd # on the floor and we finally had to get rid of that cat.

    Good luck!
