    A laminating machine

Okay I am thinking of getting a laminating maching because there seems to be tons of stuff to laminate. I want something simple. Wal mart has a hot laminating maching for $25. I can ge 20 sheets/pockets for this maching. For the non laminating sheets I get 10 sheets/pockets. The price for the sheets/pockets are only a few pennies in difference. I am thinking of getting it.
I did see another laminating maching and it was like 120 and I am not about to go that route. I just got hubby to agree to finally buy me shelving for all the craft supplies and more bookshelves. My mom is here and she is buying window treatments (I watch a lot of H&G) for the kids rooms and more storage for them. Anyhoo I know he wont go for an expensive machine.
Just looking for opinions again on to get the $25er or just stick with the self laminating ones.
I am wanting to laminate some matching games for my preschoolers, our chores lists, our school list, some tables and charts that I have or am making for my 2nd grader. I also want to laminate some pictures and put flet on the back for the felt board. Okay done with my rambling plus DD is done with her math.

I have a laminating machine. We got it from Sam's club about 5 years ago!!! LOVE IT!!! It laminates 8x11 or so...standard paper size, or smaller!!! I use it to laminate flashcards, newspaper clippings!!! I think it was around 50-75 dollars. We bought more of the 8x11 sheets at Sam's club...sorry don't remember the price!!! It's so nice having it here!!!

If you have an Aldi's around you, occassionally they will have the laminator's for $19.99. My friend has one and she says she loves it. I bought mine for almost $300. and the one from Aldi's seems like it's just as nice. If you get one that says to use the paper carrier, don't ever use if without the carrier. I bought 20 pocket sheets for $7.77 at Walmart. It is pretty thick, too. I laminate everything that I can and it lasts forever. Just be careful, the kids don't fit thru the machine:)

If I saw one for that price at Walmart, I would get it. Carl gave me a "check" for $19 good only at Staples. I was thining of seeing if I could get one there for about that price.

I purchased a hot laminating machine at Walmart for about the same price a few years ago. It is wonderful! It ended up being easier and less expensive than buying the pocket sheets. If you plan on using it often, it is a good buy.

I, too, have bought this machine at walmart. It works good. Sometimes it doesn't laminate as well as I would like but I think I dont let the machine warm up as well. It is helpful though and i tend to laminate almost everything I want to keep and use wet/dry erase markers :)

I'm just a contact paper user here, too. That's the one thing I miss about the Christian school where I was teaching - free laminating!

I have the wally world laminating maching in my closet and I also have contact paper. I am hoping this weekend to check out the maching. I am wanting to make a Student ID since we are traveling out of state. I also have a paper saying we are homeschoolers.
Can you write on the contact paper with a dry eraser marker or a projector pen and wipe it off?

Dry eraser markers don't work so well on the laminate well...if you want it to stay then it is great. The overhead projector pens work TONS better and are easily removed with a wet papertowel.

Our local educational store has CHEAP laminating so...I take everything there. I'm not sure how much it is per inch but...I know it is CHEAP. lol Plus maybe the cut me a deal because they like me. lol

I saw a laminator at Harbour Freight Tools one time if you have those stores in your area.

Permanent markers will come off of laminate if you spray them with hair spray!

I use clear contact paper all the time. I give the scraps to the kids and they love them.

Thanks for all the tips on what works best for cleaning and writing on contact paper. That has been my one complaint with going the contact paper route.

If we could laminate the kids' hands, we wouldn't need to laminate everything else.
