My 13 year old wants to study general law this year and I have no idea where to start. A google search didn't turn up much other than actual legal code. And help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
I do not know of a middle school curriculum but there are a couple of high school (secular) textbooks that I know of http://www.streetlaw.org/en/publications/street_law_textbook http://glencoe.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0078743699/
There is a middle school in NYC for law enforcement. I am not sure if they would help you or speak to you on the phone or not. It was down the street from where I lived, so I passed it a lot. It is on Guy R Brewer Street in Jamaica, Queens NYC.
You know, when I was in middle school, I think 7th grade, we took a "criminal justice" course. It was a short course like half the year, and we learned things like how the court system works and what our rights and responsiblities are as citizens. I don't remember having a text book for it at all though.
Christian Liberty has an 8th grade Civics course, and a course on the Constitution too. In case that helps.
Thank you all for giving me different directions to look at. DD wants to be a detective, loves Law and Order, CSI ect. So I suppose I need to begin moving things in that direction.... this is going to be fun and tricky I think!
Maybe a forensic science would be good too? I know simple homeschool has a course, not sure of others.
