The Leapster Explorer looks great with a lot of educational games, yet fun stuff for the kiddos! My question is for anyone that has researched or owns 1...On the commercials they always talk about the extras you can download (besides the games you can buy in-store) So do you have to pay for the downloadable stuff available online? If so, how much does that run? I know the regular games are running between $20-$25. Any input is greatly appreciated! ;)

Leapster got low ratings on Amazon. The Mobigo got better ratings. I went to to Target and compared them and I actually like the Mobigo better. It's screen is clear and sharp.

Its 59.95 and Target has a coupon in their toy booklet for $10 off.

You might want to check it out. :)

We got our youngest a Leapster Explorer this year for Christmas. I generally go to at least 5 different sites for ratings to compare before I decide on a product. I go to Amazon, but if you also go to TRU and other sites...the ratings are different. In the end...they ALL get some negative and some positive. I went with the Leapster Explorer because there are more things you can do with it over the other handheld's that are similar.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I think the downloads online are free, but you have to purchase a download card (sold near the games) in order to do the downloads. Also, if you email the Leap Frog company they will usually respond pretty quickly with your questions. Hope this helps!
