LOF: Kidney, Liver, and Mineshaft. These books come between "Jellybeans" and LOF: Fractions.

Anybody have a child who's using or has used them? How did they compare to the elementary books (A-J)? How did you feel about them as a parent/teacher?

    Thanks.

When I started, there wasn't any primary or intermediate. The first LOF was fractions. So I really can't tell you how they compare. I honestly don't feel they have enough practice. They were great with Faythe, but Phillip just whipped through without learning much, and fussed when he had to re-take the Bridge again (and again, and again!). We finally gave up on Fred with him.

(But if you're interested in fractions and decimals/per cents, I'd be glad to sell them!)

*shrugs* Ask me again this summer. We're finishing up H-I-J in May and will be starting K-L-M in late July when we start back to school. I'll probably order them in May or June and can tell you what I think then. So far, we haven't had any issue with lack of practice in the early series, either. Some chapters have as many as 15-20 extra practice questions at the end (which annoys the heck out of my kid... LOL!)

Jackie, we started LOF:Fractions last year and hit the same wall. I emailed the author to ask about it. I started my (then) 4th grader because he knew his math facts (which is what I read as the prerequisite for Fractions). Dr. Schmidt said let him finish the primary books (which we already have for his younger brothers). So he's been doing those, 4-5 lessons per week, instead of one lesson per week. I just wondered if it's worth getting K-L-M, or taking some time off (we do another math curriculum in parallel) and starting next year, or trying again and potentially hitting that wall again.

    Thanks to both of you.
