Sorry I wasn't trying to be rude about your curriculum choices. I realize it may have come across that way. There are a lot of things I don't like that my children will have to learn to deal with if they want to go to college. So I do plan on exposing my kids to this kind of stuff I just don't plan on judging them by it and I know you weren't either. KWIM

My son is 6 and thinks the same way. Today he was doing a dot to dot and the directions said to connect the dots from A to Z. He did just that; he connected A to Z and put the paper in his folder. I had to explain to him that it ment in order from A to Z. Note that he also has mild Autism.

Here's our new one from yesterday.

I gave dd a 'the color of mozart' assignment. I put on a piece of mozart, and asked her to use crayons to color whatever color she wanted across the paper to represent what was going on in the music. Apparently I was a little too um.. specific when I told her to start on the edge. When I glanced over at it about 2 minutes in, she had very carefully confined her colors to just 1/2" all the way around the edge of the paper!

    Poor kid!

Yesterday, 4yo ds was sitting on the floor drawing with a pencil between his toes, 13yo ds asked him, "Oh, are you drawing with your toes?" 4yo said, "NO, I am drawing with a pencil!" I just had to laugh and thought of this thread.

I know this is an older thread, but I just had to tell you a new one from today.

Dd (6) was taking a 'test' (she wants a report card). So her questions were.. what is a plot, what is a setting, what are characters, etc.

We get to the 'bonus' question. The question is, "What is your favorite Christmas Story?"

I was looking for.. Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer or 'Twas the night before Christmas, etc.

Dd's answer.. "Something with Santa or presents in it..." It was clear from the way she said it that she was still 'dissecting' stories rather than just thinking of one of her favorites LOL.

Lol, I almost wish I had a literal thinker, cuz that's just hilarious to me. :p I was going to reply to this thread, but it's kinda old, and there are already lots of the same answer. :)
