I heard a few years ago that there was a curriculum based on the Little House on the Prairie series. Does anyone know about this? Where I could find it? What did you think of it? My girls might be too young - KG, 2nd, 3rd - but would like to keep it in mind for next year - Thanks!
Prairie Primer. CrystalB9 has used it. She's not on very often, but if you send her an e-mail, I'm sure she'd tell you about it. You could try a PM, but I'm not sure she'd get a notice about it. You can buy it from Rainbow, or maybe CBD, or you might be able to find it used.
Yes, Jackie is right its Prairie Primer, I am not Crystal, but I did use it with my girls and my youngest was in 3 grade and we had so much fun with it.
I bought the Laura Ingalls Wilder / Little House Guides from Calvert School before we beganing officially homeschooling. I'm not sure they still sell them. They're a bit different than the Prairie Primer in that they are more guides for the books....not as heavy on other activities (or so I assume). Sadly, we haven't used them as much but I keep hoping my middle DD will take an interest in them soon :lol: Rhonda C.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I found the prairie primer at Rainbow Resource and also used on the well trained mind forum. I think it would go over better in another year or two, but I am excited to try it out! I am thinking of just getting it now to have on hand. There is so much info out there. - thanks for all the links/ideas. In case anyone else is interested I also found a newsletter that someone in Australia has started for Christian hsing families - it looks promising! It is called MaryandLaura magazine. I got this on an email list I am on - so you might want to try to get the books now: FYI: Special note regarding changes being made to the Little House series: The publisher of the Little House on the Prairie series has decided to repackage the paperback editions in order to keep them "relevant to a new generation." The revamped books will replace the beloved covers by Garth Williams with photographic covers, and remove the inside art. However, his art will remain in the colorized paperback edition. Unfortunately, the other Little House books that tell the stories of Laura's family (Martha, Charlotte, Caroline and Rose) are also being changed. They will be abridged and, in some cases, more than 100 pages have been cut from the original edition. They will also have photographic covers. The unabridged editions, which are the ones we carry, will be allowed to go out of print by the publisher. Some already are. Apparently, the changes are to counter the notion that the Little House books are old-fashioned historical books and today's young readers will view the new editions as adventure books. What a shame to change a classic. I am glad I have the series of books already. We wanted to use the Prairie Primer but I didn't want to spend that much so I put my own units together using the books as well as other books.
