My daughter seems really interested in learning about different places around the world.

I'm looking for printables on a 2nd grade level-ish that we can work on.

    Does anybody know of any?

    Thanks!

www.schoolexpress.com has some "units" on the continents - some activities may be do-able and some not, but it's an introduction anyway.

Last year I bought Galloping the Globe http://www.geomatters.com/product/galloping-the-globe-now-with-cd-rom as a planning tool for a round the world study. It was good, but not quite what I expected. My library didn't have many of the books they suggest so I ended up doing more work than I hoped to. And then our schooling changed suddenly mid year so we didn't get very far.

http://www.homeschoolcreations.com/Geography.html is a wonderful resource for printables to go along with the country studies.

You might look at Little Passports as a supplement: http://www.littlepassports.com/

If you don't feel like trying to do a whole curriculum around world studies, you could do something else and then the Little Passports stuff would provide a monthly look into a different country.

I believe Homeschool Buyers' Co-op is doing a group sale on it right now. We've done it for the last couple of months. It's really very cool. You get a large world map, a letter, a picture, a little travel case, and stickers in the first order. Then, each month, you get another letter, a picture related to wherever the characters are, some kind of object that is connected to where they are, and a sticker to put on your world map. They also send a code for online activities and info as well.

This last month, the characters were in Brazil. We got a picture of a rare monkey, and they got an amethyst quartz. They also get a sticker each month to put on their traveling case.

It's a cute and fun way to teach kids about different countries.

You could also join a postcard exchange group. We started doing that last year. It is pretty fun to get postcards from different places. I plan on making a book, using each postcard as a starting place to study a different location.
