In case anyone is interested, I emailed the people who produce teaching textbooks, and this is their reply. Greg and Shawn Sabouri are co-founders of Teaching Textbooks™, a producer of math curriculum software. Before starting Teaching Textbooks, the two brothers operated a small, private school for academically-gifted students. Shawn is a graduate of Swarthmore College and Greg holds two masters degrees from Harvard, where he was also a math tutor. Both men are dedicated to the idea of using software to make educational content more affordable and accessible. While not directly homeschool parents, the brothers have been lifelong educators.
There is a popular blog out called Common Core Unloaded. Just do a google search for it and it should be the first hit. As a homeschool teacher myself, I use a lot of the resources she creates/writes. She is a stay-at-home mom who taught for many years and is discouraged with public education and provides resources to enhance higher-level and creative thinking. She is coming out with a book soon called Innovative Teaching which seems like it will provide a the framework for what a lot of us homeschool teachers need to enhance divergent thinking at home!
