I just add the berries, sugar and pectin...

Add 2 more cups of sugar over the amount of berries you have. Say you have 3 cups of berries then use 5 cups of sugar, or 7 cups of berries add 9 cups of sugar.

Then 1 pack of pectin from the store.

    Boil it all.

When you pour it into a jar, leave about 1/4 space from the top...it's such a mess when it runs all over!! ack.

I have a friend who uses jello for the flavor and it comes out delicious. Her neighbor has figs and sometimes she will make strawberry/fig for instance. It is a little thicker that way and you wouldn't know there is fig in there.

Your welcome. If you need any help I can try to make it a bit more clear. I noticed I was kinda quick in typing that out for ya.

I make freezer jam. It couldn't be easier, but you need the space to store it.

Just mix the freezer pectin with the sugar (the proportions are on the packet), then mix in the fruit. I freeze it in quart size freezer bags. When we need some, I cut the corner off the bag and squeeze it into empty jars and store in the fridge. The flavor is very light and fresh, because the fruit is never cooked.

Incidentally, I often do this with frozen fruit because it has been cheaper most times for me to buy frozen than fresh. We're putting in lots of berries (strawberries, elderberries, and ground cherries) this year, so hopefully in a summer or two, we'll be having all fresh fruit for jam.
