I ran across two interesting articles (the Illinois Homeschool PAC posted them on Facebook this morning) that I thought I would share. The articles are short and kind of slim on details, yet it's a nicely written two-part piece on how families are making homeschooling work when a stay at home parent / non-outside working parent is not fully in the picture. Part One: http://www.tennessean.com/article/20120613/WILLIAMSON0701/306130006 Part Two: http://www.tennessean.com/article/2...l-Single-parents-can-make-home-schooling-work
The links are from our major newspaper that is published in Nashville. The home school community is HUGE in the Nashville/ Middle TN area, so home schooling is WIDELY accepted here! I enjoyed reading the articles... and now ... I have to go to work. Who else here works a "payroll" job and homeschools? Do you work part time or full time? Do you work an "at home" job or "go" to work? Pam
I work full time, 8-5 outside of the home. I homeschool my 16 (almost 17!) year old cousin in the evenings. Sometimes it's a challenge, but it's worth every bit of it for the changes in him on so many levels. I wouldn't trade it for anything. well, unless someone wanted to take over all my bills and expenses and support me, so I could stay home and homeschool and homestead and craft for my etsy shop.
Thanks. I've had to homeschool as a single parent right from the get-go. It hasn't been easy, but it's been worth it.
