    Mary had a little Lamb,
His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went The Lamb was sure to go.
He followed her to school each day,
    Twasn't even in the rule.
He made the children laugh play
To have a Lamb at school.
And then, the rules all changed one day,
    Illegal it became
To bring a Lamb of God to school,
    Or even speak His name.
    Everyday got worse & worse,
    And days turned into years.
    Instead of hearing children laugh,
We heard gun shots & tears.
What must we do to stop the crime
    That's in our schools today?
Let's let The Lamb come back to school
And teach the kids to pray.

So blessed to have been raised in a christian home & to have enough God-given sense to raise my children the same. Thank you Jesus for your mercy & leading us to homeschool! I so pray for my great nieces & nephews who haven't even begun school yet that their parents decide to homeschool them....Too many gun shots & tears there.:(

Love the poem, but have to say this: my children go to public school. Not all schools are the same. Ours is still very conservative...yes, we still include GOD in the pledge each morning...*gasp*. It's interesting how we're quick to see the violence in schools...but you wont ever see the fact that my son had 3 CHRISTIAN teachers (perhaps more that I don't know about) so far at his school on the news. ;) If we lived in a district that wasn't like ours, we would probably homeschool. But, in the meantime...I love my little missionaries. ;) In fact, my oldest (9) told me the other day how he likes to talk to his friends about Jesus. :)

Jenpooh that's great for you & your children that your public school is open. The school that my kids use to go to was changing, it had been free with christianity, we were blessed to have christian teachers as well, unfortunately society (rule & law makers) won't allow much of this. When things began to change we weren't allowed to say "Christmas" party, it had to be "winter" or "holiday" in case there was folks of other religions present at the shcool. Unfortunately much of the nation has & is still turning this way.
So glad that you still have one of the few that asn't tightened the ropes yet.

My heart feels for you. A district not far from us is just like that. Breaks my heart. My son's school does say 'winter break' and 'spring break' for things...but honestly it's just always been called that for no particular reason even when I was little. It isn't because of religious stuff. They talk about Christmas...probably not Christ, but kids are not shunned or made to feel ashamed to share their beliefs. The school even let a friend of mine hand out a flyer for her church's Christmas play to the parents at the school. My son's school is far from perfect, but I do appreciate their religious tolerence that they seem to hold true to. We are very open with our beliefs, as are others, and they seem to respect it. Afterall, it's freedom OF religion, not 'from'. :)
