My hubby sort of thinks I'm silly, but I think I'm being practical. We live in a three bedroom/two bath house with one living area, dining area, and kitchen. No formal space to transform. We're not moving to a bigger house any time soon and I don't want to spend the money to close in the garage. Our master bedroom is plenty big enough to have multiple uses...guest room, play/sewing room, office. I totally don't mind using the smaller room that is currently our guest room. In fact I prefer a much smaller room anyway. Call me crazy, but I also prefer the smaller second bath to our master bath. Anybody here using their rooms in unconventional ways?

That sounds fine to me! We were using one of the bedrooms upstairs as a library and having the girls share a bedroom, but decided we never were using it the way it was intended, and turned it back into a bedroom last year. Our "formal dining room" has two computers and a desk in it.

you have to do what fits. I think it would be fun to have a craft room and you could put a futon for an extra bed.

we did our down stairs master bedroom and turned it into a game room, sewing room, exercise room - school. What ever fits us but not a bedroom.

When we lived in a smaller house and our 3 girls had to share a room, we let them have the master. We only sleep in our room, so we didn't need the larger room. I say use it however fits your family!

Growing up, my parents gave the master to my sisters and me. They took the smaller room.

I think I've talked DH into it. Will make the closet the girl's kitchen/tea room/reading nook. It's ridiculous that the two of us are wasting so much space. The closet is really big enough for lots of good play and our clothes will fit into the smaller closet just fine. I am so excited. Finally will have all the rooms in the house being used!! I have to have a guest room for family as they visit regularly but not enough to have a whole room unused when we're desperate for space. Fortunately the guest bed is only a full size and will tuck into the corner without being overwhelming. Guess I'll get started tomorrow!!
