I'm considering math u see for my 14 yo dd. She has devel. delay and adhd. Learns best w/hands on/multisensory, and hates to write. What do you all think about this curriculum? I need more info before I plunk down my hardearned cash.

    Diane,
I use Math U See for my 12 year old DD. She was so behind in Math when I brought her home. math U see has been awesome for us. It is really easy to teach and easy to follow. I have found that we don't use the manipulatives as much as I thought we would. As a matter of fact this year, I didn't even buy the manipulatives.
You can order the free demo DVD and get a pretty good idea of how things are laid out.

I had looked at it, and know quite a few who use it and love it. I almost got it but ran into Miquon and Singapore and went with those instead.
I think MUS it's a great math curriculum though.

I don't know how far Miquon goes, but it's inexpensive and gives you more than one way to teach something.

I also got the demo for MUS. I was always really good at math, it was one of my favorite subjects. It was so neat to watch the demo, I can't remember now what he was explaining but for the first time it clicked with me. It was something that I know how to do because I know the rules, but for the first time I could see WHY you do it that way. I definitaly plan to get this next year for my ds.

I use Mah U See for my 5th grader but thanks to her time in public school she does 4th grade math. She has done amazingly well with it and should be on the right "grade" level by 6th grade.

I hope you find what works for you!

I did mus with my ds up until this year - 5th grade. I only switched because I bought a kit that already had math and didn't want to buy again. I absolutely loved it. It was able to teach the why and hows. I feel he definately got a good basis by using that first. We did use the manipulatives alot, but he was younger than your children. I think that it is an excellent product. You can go online to their website. They have some samples and the kids can also practice their +,-,x, and divide on their. It's really neat.

Dgs used Math U See this year with reviewing fractions, we also have the decimal DVD. We used Abeka up until this year and he was a little confused. I think we are going back to Abeka this next year. I know another hser that uses MUS and they love it.

    math u see

This is our first year using math u see since pulling the girls out of PS. They love doing their math now. They even ask for extra worksheets. I never thought I would hear that. It is a little more expensive, but this is one program I will buy again for next year. It has made math easier to understand for both of our girls.
