I would love to get some opinions on these two curriculum. Would especially love to hear from anyone who's actually used both and can compare them, but would love any input from those who've used either :)

Some reasons I'm looking at these two curriculum: I like how they're both chronological. I've heard they're both told from a "story" perspective. They're both apparently good for teaching multiple ages at the same time (will be using them with my 9 and 6yo) with some minor tweaking? After some preliminary looking, MOH seems very Christian-oriented, what about SOTW? We are Christian, so I'm fine with a certain amount of Christian slant, so long as it isn't leaving out things that are generally accepted on the secular side, if that makes sense. (For example, we use Apologia science which presents a young earth as fact, whereas we teach our kids both theories and how we would relate God/creationism/evolution to both theories so they understand what we believe, what most of today's society believes, and allows them to reach their own educated conclusions as they grow and mature). So I would love to see Christian history, but not at the expense of secular history as well, kwim?

Any opinions on either/both would be appreciated! Thanks!

MoH is for all ages. SotW is only for the younger crowd. MoH is Christian. SotW is written by a Christian author, but from a secular standpoint. There is a some widely accepted Biblical history thrown in, but not nearly as much background or history that MoH gives. The beginning of MoH 1 has a ton of Bible in it because ... well ... that's what happened during that time period! As you get into it, though, you'll find it's very well balanced with secular history.

We used SOTW for 3 years and this past year we switched to MOH. I really like MOH much better. I like the strong Bible history and Christian morals you get. With SOTW I felt like I was constantly having to adlib so my children would know what historic behaviors were wrong and which were right. MOH does that for you. MOH also includes the secular history and it is fun to see how the two line up. We have been doing the time line all year and the kids really think that makes history much more fun as well.

Yes. Biggest difference is that MOH has a Christian world view, SOTW has a secular world view. If you have strong feelings one way or the other, that might be the deciding factor.

Also, we are big MOH users. However, since Vol. 4 isn't out yet, I've just been reading through the last two volumes of SOTW just to bring my kids up to the present. We're not doing any activities or anything, just the reading. We got the books from our local library.
