Does anyone get a yen for a particular kind of food on a ' monthly' basis? Believe it or not, I crave ramen noodles!
Before long we'll need to add a Feminine Issues (no pun intended  ) forum on here....we could transfer the Glad Rags and Keeper Cup over here.... I crave carbs in a big way...mostly PB&J. My midwife told me that makes sense because carbs are a natural way to boost your seretonin levels.
The thing with carbs, with me anyway, if I begin the day with them, I'm hungry all day. Years ago I would get a craving for dairy stuff... yogurt, ice cream, milk.
I crave chocolate at certain times during the month. I love chocolate chips with small handful of organic raw almonds. Not too many, nor too much, but just enough to satisfy the craving.
I keep trail mix on hand for the chocolate craving, which is present more than any certain time of the month . I just use peanuts, raisins and M&M's (sparingly). Growing up my dad called it "Gorp". He included sunflower seeds. He made homemade granola, too. He's not so health conscience now that he and mom have an empty nest. Glad he was when I was there or I'd be twice the size I am today!
chocolate seems to be the need of choice for me. While I was pregnant the things I used to crave were wild: Christian - fresh mushrooms, white milk Andrew (get this) - raw onions (I used to eat them like an apple - and then go for the kiss  ), hamburger and at the end vegetable soup with macaroni noodles cooked into it, milk Noah - milk, special K, bits and bites, nacho's, watermelon and ice cream
Definitely chocolate! With #1ds I craved saurkraut. Sometimes I would just open up a can and eat it raw. Can't remember any thing specific with #2ds.
Sauerkraut- yeah!!! Especially from a can because it's stronger than the kind in a bag in the meat case. I noticed I stopped having a monthly yen for dairy when I started taking calcium. I wonder what's in those goofy ramen noodles that my body must need?
I crave carbs and especially chocolate. When pg with Evan I craved raw meat. Ate it med rare. Didn't ever feel like I would get enough of it. I also craved red pickled peppers so bad that I ate an entire jar in one sitting and then felt sick. I don't like red peppers now. And with Christian it was mint cookies and ice cream.
My favorite Girl Scout cookies are the thin mints. Also like those Oreos with mint creme. I think I feel some of those cravings coming on!
EWE-did you say sauerkraut? Excuse me while I bend over the toilet!!! Just thinking about cravings makes me crave Chinese food (chicken fried rice and chicken chow mein) and chocolate chip cookie dough!!! Every other night it was Chinese while pregnant! Oh man, now I'm going to have to have dh pick up some on his way home!!! Yum...I'm going to go have chinese food dreams now...
Chocolate any type especially dark. I can eat chocolate chips by the handfuls. I know this sounds strange, but sometimes I get that craving so badly, that I have taken the chocolate syurp and poured it straight down my throat. I craved fried egg sandwiches with my dd, and peanutbutter / applebutter sandwiches with my ds.
I could seriously use a hot fudge sundae (with or without the ice cream!) today! When pregnant with #1 I had a Biggie pink lemonade from Wendy's almost every day. When pregnant with #2 and #3 it was a Slurpy (Icee) a day. My midwife said that cravings for ice were a need for iron. Now I also get in the mood for a mixed iced coffee- but those get expensive! so I avoid that craving when I can! lol momx3
Love egg sandwiches! And almost any flavor of Oreos too! (Good thing I went grocery shopping already- won't be tempted!) lol
I've never had a fried egg sandwich, but I remember my dad telling me about when he had pneumonia and was hospitalized for 10 days...the first thing he craved was a fried egg sandwich . Eggs made me sick when pregnant and now the thought makes my stomache turn.
