I was hoping you all may have some suggestions for me on things to do with the kids for morning devotions. I do a Bible curriculum as a part of school but I like to do something short and intimate with the kids at the breakfast table each morning. It can't have crafts or activities per se, just reading and discussions. My kids are ds9, ds7, and ds4 so it needs to be simple. Anyone have anything they use that would be helpful?

    Thanks
    Rhonda

I have a little book called "100 Ways to Know God Loves Me, 100 Songs to Love Him Back." Each devotion is short and sweet; one page long. It also comes with 2 cd's that contain 100 songs. We love the book and the songs. We do it every morning during breakfast :)

One of my boys uses the NIV Adventure bible, and we use the Adventure Bible Book of Devotions for Early Readers. We sit at the table together and they take turns each day reading the daily "life lesson" and scriptures. Then we discuss what it was about. My youngest was 6 when we started it and my oldest is 9, so it would be sbout the right age for your kids, and it is gender neutral. It is kind of late in the year to buy the book for this year, but my boys really enjoyed it, and it is worth a look.

We liked Keys for Kids but DH asked us to stop doing it because it's not KJV, so we found a devotional that is very similar called Glow Jr that we now use. It has a little puzzle at the bottom that my boys do on their own, but while they are having breakfast we read and talk about the devotional.

Another thing I do is have ds read a yearly Bible. It is in different versions too but is good for study.

Birbitt, the daily devotional that's posted on the Keys website gives you the option of KJV, NKJV, and NIV.

That's good to know! We had the book sent to us and it wasn't KJV, and hubby didn't like that so he asked me to please find something else.

I have a couple of the one-year books, and you're right - sometimes the verses are given in NIV or some other translation, whichever one they think gives the verse in the most understandable way for kids. So sometimes one version, sometimes another.

I have one daily bible that is in NLT I never read this version untill my life group leader had us all read the same one.. its okay but too story like for all the time for me. I like several versions to compare and contrast too.
But I am a bible scholar love studying and examining the Word of God.
I have a great study for a book study on my blog/web site too!
Jackie used it for older girls I think, it goes with a book called Hinds feet on high places.
