Can someone recommend a good family movie for our Movie night. Preferably 'G' rating. 'PG' it depends.
    Thanks for your help!

Can you give an idea as to ages? I've seen some G movies that really only much younger kids would enjoy and others that a little bit older would like.

What age are you talking? "Air Bud", "Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang", "The Apple Dumpling Gang", "The Wizard of Oz".... My family also enjoys Abbot and Costello movies, or old Don Knox movies.

Age 9-11. Yet, this age group of movies sometimes have questionable things in them. Sometimes we are better off with 5-7 age group. The kids like movies with kids being the protagonists. I am more concerned with the moral content in the movie. Clean Movies!

You might look into the Disney movies from the 60's and 70's. Things like "Bluebeard's Ghost," "That Darn Cat," "Escape to Witch Mountain," "Herbie the Love Bug" and others like them were clean and fun.

And here's a site with a list [just to help jog memories]: http://www.ducksoftware.com/movies/gratedmovies.html

We are getting ready to watch Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure with our almost 10yo. I can't remember if there is any swearing in it, but I do remember watching it in school in 6th grade.

I LOVE the Apple Dumpling Gang. I also love the movie Savanna Smiles... Do any of you remember that one. Oooh I haven't seen it in so long I'd love to watch it again.

I saw Savannah Smiles at the theater. I cried at the end. It was a good one.

And I also love the Apple Dumpling Gang and even its sequel The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again.

Oh, I also liked the movie Gus about the football kicking mule.

Maybe I should stop now as my taste in movies is probably getting really questionable about now.

I guess I didn't know but the little girl that played Savannah died when she was 21... she was trying to go clean, but ended up with an overdose.... so sad!!!

Oh, I meant to add that, if you are willing/able, you might look into renting an old TV series on DVD. My kids---5 & 7--- have been watching the old Lost in Space shows on DVD. We've been renting them from Netflix.

Sommer I have been wanting to watch Bill & Ted with Sam. Thanks for reminding me!

Savannah Smiles was the first movie I ever saw in a theater. Do you know I don't remember a thing about it!

Amy, my kids loved them, too!

I think the first movie I remember seeing was probably Cinderella, and then Mary Poppins (and yes, that was when it FIRST came out, lol!) Our babysitter called my little brother Gus, because he reminded her of the mouse, lol!

I also enjoy Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, with Leslie Ann Warren.

    "The Princess Bride"!

    other ideas

We also liked night at the museum. One that we have really loved and watched over and over in the last two years is The "new" chronicals of narnia, lion witch and wardrobe. It is great, and there are so many deeper meanings behind all of it. Everytime we watch it, we see something else that we didnt notice before.

My kids have also grown to love Little house on the prairie. there are some heart wrenching ones, and then some funny ones, and a lot of them teach very valuable lessons.

    nims island was fun!
